Now Playing: the Ketchup song in my head
Lately, i've been learning about ˈızlɑːm, and today, i was reading the Wikipedia leaf on Jizya. I read there what the Qur'ān 9:29 has to say about it, and i have it paraphrased below.

Fight those who don't believe in Allāh or the Last Day, who do what is forbidden by Allāh and his Messenger, and who don't acknowledge the ɹıˈlıdʒən of Truth (even if they're People of the Book), unless they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

If i understand this, they who do not bow to ˈızlɑːm must be fought or they must be made subjects of the theocracy. Then i read this letter, from Muhammad, to the infidels of Elath:

Thou hast to accept ˈızlɑːm, or pay the tax, and obey Gɑːd and His Messenger and the messengers of His Messenger, and do them honor and dress them in fine clothing, not in the raiment of raiders…for if you satisfy my envoys you will satisfy me. Surely the tax is known to you. Therefore if you wish to be secure on land and on sea, obey Gɑːd and His Messenger…But be careful lest thou do not satisfy…for then I shall not accept anything from you, but I shall fight you and take the young as captives and slay the elderly…Come then, before a calamity befalls you…

A peaceful ɹıˈlıdʒən, indeed. Make no mistake, i'm not against taxing folks who are under a government; i'm against a government based on a rigid holy book, especially one that instructs believers to either fight infidels, or bring them under ızˈlɑːmık law.

Oh yeah, my blog...
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Gackt - Vanilla
Well, a couple weeks back, i went to another gun show. This one wasn't half as big as the last one, but i actually found things i was truely willing to buy: an SKS with a bayonet and good-looking wood, and a Makarov PM from East Germany. The Makarov wasn't outwardly flawless, but it was sheen and well-cared for. It had a black grip, the metal-color ranged from plum to black, and the only markings were the serial numbers, and an unoticeable importer mark. The seller went into exhaustive detail on how to take it apart and take care of it. Then i went off to the bank so i could pay the $225 for the gun and $10 for the background check. The background check started with sheet of yes or no questions that basicly ask if i'm a citizen, a criminal, and or a aggressor, then the seller telephoned someplace to verify me, and then it was all mine.

I found an old song from Germany called Das Niedersachsenlied, (the song of Lower Saxony). It's basically about how virtuous the folk of Niedersachsen are. The only good versions that i've heard are by Heino and Lucky Krasensky, though neither are complete.

I've been watching a new animation series from Japan called Azumanga Daioh, which has rightly gained popularity outside of Japan. I finally sought it out myself, and i can't get enough of it. There's no plot; it's merely a bunch of high school girls and their teachers doing funny things.

Ads of the g*d of Abraham, begone!
Mood:  blue
Now Playing: Ghetto Lee Lewis - Ultima Online Create Your Fantasy OC ReMix
I noticed that there are some Chr*stian ads coming up on my blog so all posts with words that might trigger these have been edited.

I found a new webcomic that i really enjoy, and the timing couldn't have been better now that Purple Pussy seems to have come to an end. The comic is Generika Adventures. It parodies the game Neverwinter Nights, thus nobody who i'd expect to find this blog will find it interesting.

I've been reading a book called Secrets of the Ancient Goddess, a novel by Brenda Gates Smith about a goddess-worshipping folk 7000 years ago and their eventual conflict with a folk who worship an evilly-aligned sky god. It's good enough that i'll make time to read it.

Mood:  irritated
Now Playing: Uhm Jung Hwa - Molla
I went to a gun show on Sunday with my dad and we had some good fun. I went intending to get a Makarov PM or PMM, an Arisaka rifle of some type, or whatever looked good for under $300. I found both of these, but i'm so choosy that i sadly ended up with nothing. I specifically wanted a Makarov from East Germany or Russia, and though someone had a Russian one, it was the commercial kind and had "Cal. 9x18 Makarov Made in Russia" etched on the slider thus making the gun ugly. There were a pair of Arisakas, but one cost more that i would pay, and the other had a poor finish on it. I also saw some Modelo C:s and some old lever action rifles that i liked, but i'm going to be patient and find something that i truely want.

Tiw be with them
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Cutting Crew - I Just Died in Your Arms
I made my own "support the troops" banner after getting fed up with all the "G*d bless our troops" stuff i've seen.

It reads 'Tiw be with them' then it's translated below in Proto-Germanic where it reads 'Tiwaz wes medi imz'. As a lot of "support the troops" material invokes the Abrahamic g*d, i chose to invoke Tiw. My point in making this was to invoke a heathen g*d, since i'm sick of seeing Chr*stianity everywhere. I can't say that i believe in Tiw or even like him, but if i'm wishing for the well-being of the soldiers, i should invoke the best g0d for the task. I'll probably make a Celtic version soon.

It's /ʃaːn/, not [siːn], Lucky 13
Mood:  sharp
Now Playing: Megaherz - Teufel
I have lately been told that my name, Sean, should be [siːn]. At the time, i was like "Pš! What do you know". Since then, it has bothered me enough that i came up with this: Sean is not an English name, and the S-E-A-N spelling did not come from the English Orthography. E-A is pronounced /iː/ in English and Scottish. Sean is not English or Scottish, so it's not pronounced [siːn].

Well, it's Friday the 13th, the supposed unluckiest day. Yes, the combination of the day of the goddess of love with the number of femininity (menstrual cycles in a year) must be quite an unlucky thing.

Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: Carved in Stone - Heldentod
I got out of bed today feeling like fixing my old personal website, which i've been putting off since a year ago. I was merely going to make something in Notepad, but i noticed that Angelfire has a blog builder now, so i'm doing this the lazy way.

I've been wearing this piece of clothing called a Yukata around the apartment lately. It's merely a casual, Japanese robe worn by males, but everyone thinks it's a kimono.

It's something that i seldom do, but i made a purchase that didn't contribute to my survival. I bought bootleg copies of the She-Ra movie Secret of the Sword, The He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special, and Fire and Ice off eBay. The Fire and Ice which i speak of is the fantasy animation from 1983 by Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta. It's about a primitive fantasy world where folk wear the bare minimum in clothing, and an evil sorcerer is going about killing and enslaving people with his mobile ice fortress and his army of subhumans. I wish that the fantasy category of movies and games had more stuff like this; mediæval fantasy is getting too prominent.

Maybe i'll get around to buying that WW2 German helmet and that stickgrenade repica that i want. The grenade would look good attached to my backpack.
