Notes for ARCHIBALD "ARCHA" WILLIS: Moved from Georgia to Alabama, and stayed there a few years. Moved to Itawamba County, MS, in a covered wagon. They fought the Indians, cut the wilderness as they traveled along, sleeping in tents on the ground and in the covered wagon and cooking over campfires. Archa was a blacksmith by trade. He built a log cabin there in Ratliff, MS. He worked at his blacksmith shop there all the time, and was crossing the road (then a small dirt road) one day when he fell dead of a heart attack. They buried him right there beside the road. Years later the road was widened and paved right over his grave, about where the Ratliff sign is below the Rushing store.

She married URIAH POLLARD NANNEY1 23 Oct 1856 in Fulton, Itawamba County, Mississippi1, son of URIAH NANNEY and MARY MCCARTY. He was born 17 Feb 1835 in Lauderdale County, Alabama1, and died 11 Feb 1897 in Itawamba County, Mississippi1.
Notes for ELIZABETH "ELIZA" FRANCES WILLIS: Buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Itawamba County, MS. It is reported by the family that Eliza always said she was born August 19, 1829, but the family Bible and census records show she was born in 1831 in Georgia.
Notes for URIAH POLLARD NANNEY: Buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Itawamba County, MS. Served in the Civil War in the 2nd Mississippi Cavalry. He was discharged upon the surrender at Corinth, MS, in 1865.
