HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Manila Broadcasting Company holds the distinction of being the pioneering radio station in the country today. It is the country's premiere radio network which is described by the historical milestone and political watersheds which over the years has aired into millions of homes over their radios. It owns and operates DZRH-AM based in Metro Manila, the fourth commercial radio station to operate in Manila (the other three have long been defunct).

It first went on air on 15 July 1939 when the President Manuel L. Quezon, the first President of the Philippine Republic, delivered on his speeches over the KZRH (the call sign RH stands for Radio Heacock). World War II came and the station was almost reduced to fragments. It's surviving staff clandestinely reassemble the parts in Corregidor where it secretly resumed broadcasting as "the voice of freedom." It kept the Filipinos posted on the developments of the war and rallying them to unity.

after the war, KZRH wa resurrected but the matter of finance loomed large. Here, assistance was found in the eprsons of brothers Ambassadors J.M. Elizalde and Manuel "Don Manolo" Elizalde, Sr., two of Manila's leading businessmen. Thus, the company acquired KZRH in 1946 from Heacock Company. In 1949, the Radio Commission in Geneva, Switzerland arrived at a protocol under the terms of which, among others, Philippine radio stations had to change call letters from letter "K" to "D," giving birth to what we all know now as DZRH

Today, Manila Broadcasting Company prides itself on its tradition of being the first users of the state of the art equipment in it's operations. More recently, MBC was the first to utilize top of the line, all solid state 25 and 50 KW AM transmitters and Broadcast electronics AM-Stereo Transmitters.

In 1994, MBC went via satellite, to further enhance and expand its operations. On the same year, the vision was sent which at present, supremely guides the company in achieving its short and long range goals and objectives.
