Relics of Anuire

Below is a description of the rumors surrounding each relic. See the Adventure action for how to find the relics. You will not know what the relic actually does until you have actually found it. Not all of the rumors about the relics are necessarily true. There may be good and cursed relics or the same relic may have good and bad effects so be wary of the ones you seek. If found, each of the relics must be assigned to a specific unit, character, or holding. You may reassign them as you like. If you do not assign them you do not gain any of the benefits or determents. Relics may be taken in battle if the holding or unit carrying them is defeated and no other units friendly to the bearer survive in that province or they may be taken from a character by capture, assassination, or theft.

Banner of Courage

Rumors say this banner appears as a normal flag with an image of a Lion on it, however once it is unfurled in battle, it is rumored to inspire the unit that carries it to great deeds of courage. It is rumored the unit that bears this standard cannot be defeated in battle. It is also rumored that one unit that bore this standard would not stop fighting until everyone around them was slain, even their friends.

Banner of Terror

Rumors say this banner appears as a normal flag with an image of a Skull and Viper on it. Rumors say once it is unfurled all enemies of the standard bearer flee the battle or are unable to fight due to fear. It has been rumored that in one particular battle that the banner's power was so great the unit that bore it turned to skeletons and even their allies fled the field in fear.

Haely's Rampart

Rumors say that this is the shield worn by the Great Haely (Sun God of ancient cultures) himself at the Battle for Thantalas (the world Anuire is on) against the evil god Azrai (Fire God of ancient cultures), which took place over 1000 years ago. No one is quite sure what the shield looks like but it is rumored once a city possesses this shield that city is protected from all forms of magical attack or magical spying. Some rumors say the cities that have possessed this relic in the past have become zealots. They are rumored to have started a campaign to eradicate evil, which often meant anyone outside of the ciy itself was considered evil. Many a war is rumored to have been started because of this fervor.

Rod of Command

This relic is rumored to appear as a shiny white rod made of smallwood, a tree found only in Northern Thantalas. The rod is rumored to give its owner a commanding presence. All citizens of the land obey the orders of the owner without question. One rumor has stated that one such Rod of Command was found and anything the ruler said his people immediately did, even if the ruler was jesting. Needless to say the ruler soon found himself without a court. The people were fearful to get near him just in case he said something such as go jump off a cliff, which is a fairly common cliche among nobles.

Eye of the Eagle

This relic, it is rumored, was created much more recently by a king of the Far East. It is rumored to be a golden crown with the eye of an eagle at its center. Rumors say the wearer of the crown can survey his kingdom or any other kingdom he has seen from the safety of his throne room. It is rumored the last king to use this relic went blind and was only able to see while wearing the crown.

Vestments of Defense

This magical garment is said to appear as whatever type of clothing its wearing wishes it to be at the moment. Its main benefit is rumored to be as a suit of armor. It is rumored no ruler has ever been assassinated while wearing the Vestments of Defense. It is also rumored that the Vestments have been known to make kings feel invincible and many have jumped to their deaths off of high cliffs thinking they could not be harmed by the fall.

Chalice of Festivals

This magical cup/bowl is rumored to never run empty until all present have had their fill of food and drink. Descriptions of the item say it changes size and shape depending on the person's needs that is holding it. If the person is thirsty it is a cup with drink in it, if the person is hungry it is a bowl of food. It is rumored kings of old often had a Chalice of Festivals at all their celebrations. It is rumored Festivals of old were very extravagant for very little cost. It is also rumored these celebrations kept the people very happy towards the ruler of the land, however there is one rumor that one kingdom lost their chalice. The king, it is rumored, was brutually murdered and his body dragged through the countryside while his head was staked on top of the highest tower of his own palace.
