A. C. Boydston was mustered into Company C 1st Alabama and Tennessee Vidette Cavalry on Sept 19, 1863 at Stevenson, Alabama as private. He mustered out on June 16, 1864 at Stevenson, Alabama as a private. He was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee in 1832. In 1973 his granddaughter Opal Kogar stated in the book Trailing Smokes a history of the Ider School District that her grandfather "Asa returned home after the war, but later he picked up his coat and gun and left and that no one is sure what happened to him after that.
