One point that christians make against pagans is that they are "devil worshipers." Of course, as pagans, we know that this is completely untrue. If you're not a pagan yet, then, now you know. :o) The debate that the christians make is that our god is a horned god just like their devil. This is crazy. Let me make this article and the one's following shorter by giving you a short history of what Wicca and Witchcraft has had to go through at the hands of the Christians. In early times, the majority of the world was pagan. Most of the religions of the world had to do with witchcraft. Then, christianity is born. This brings a boom of chaos in Europe and later the Americas. Christians had to find a way to convert the entire population to christianity. They came up with many plans. Some are on this page, some are not. Anyway, they first thought of something that worked very well. They decided to put their holy holidays very near the pagan holidays to try to trick them. For example, on Dec 25, in christianity, this is the time when their savior was supposed to have been born. They made it this date because on Dec 23 is the date in which the pagan God is said to be reborn from the Goddess. Therefore, making the people think that there was little difference. Then, they thought of something else. It is harder for people to practice witchcraft if everyone else thinks that it's evil. So, the christians thought, "hmm, their god is horned. So, let's make our devil horned." They made the image of the holy god of paganism into their darkest image, the devil. Of course, pagans don't believe in the "devil." So, when people were taught that the pagans were worshiping the devil of christianity, the people lashed-out against the pagans. Finally, christianity had it's strong-hold in Europe. But, the ways in which they caught this strong-hold was very corrupt. If this weren't bad enough, the few remaining pagans left, were burned alive on a wooden stake. And the christians say that WE sacrifice?? Anyway, as you see, it was the christians who worked their way up the ladder with deceit. Not holyness. It sickens me now to look back at when I was actually a member of the christian religion. I am now much happier with my current religion. And, I am sure that if you were once a christian and are now pagan, that you too, are much happier.
n the past, there has been much debate on the origins of Christianity and if some of it's doctrines have anything to do with turning people against pagans. Well, I think so. On this page, I have conducted a list of points that I find rather interesting in this case. I hope that they give you a new insight on some of the history of Wicca, and that which also pertains to Christianity.
