HOLMES REBUILD PROJECT

FEED AND TAKEUP ROLLER'S

Holmes projector feed roller's

The original roller's were set very close to stop fire from passing, an old practice when running nitrate film. But thick splices will not pass through the close spaced roller's. A new roller was fabricated out of brass tubing and nylon spacers to replace one of the roller's. In the case of the feed roller's above, the fabricated roller does spin.

Since the takeup only goes in one direction and always puts film pressure on the bottom roller only, the fabricated top roller does not spin.
A scrape guard plate was fabricated to prevent the picture area of film from scraping against the projector case when the takeup reel is full.
