A BIG BUT?
But from an Islamic perspective the publication
of the ‘Suralikeit is not an aspect of freedom of speech nor freedom of
expression but it is pure and in purpose insult to Islam and Muslims.
No doubt that the site did not gain this publicity for its literary value
or its uniqueness but it has achieved fame because of its total rejection
by Muslims and Islam.
The writer of this work has insulted:
-
‘himself’ as a human being, by ridiculing
the symbols of a religion of millions of humans and he presented himself
as a “bad example’ of the abuse of freedom. This was reflected in
the huge counter reaction on an international scale from Muslims who regard
Islam as their choice in life.
-
he insulted the freedom itself because in its
name he gave himself the “right to attack the faith of others and thereby
he infringed on their free right to adopt whatever religion they like.
The supporters of this anonymous author tried to picture what has
happened to him as an attempt to limit his freedom of expression
and demanded protection to his right to circulate the work.
By doing so they denied Muslims their right to demand the closing down
of what they think it is a great insult to them.”
-
he insulted the constitution of the country
he lives in which has a Muslims population who regard his work as
an insult to them as citizens. This may made some say that it may tarnish
the meaning of freedom's image among those citizens who have
the right to be respected.
From a moral perspective the author also has
used abusive language about God and the Holy Koran as Muslims believe that
Koran is the word of God descended down to His Messenger.
The writer also has used ‘very abusive
words, about Prophets Jesus (PBUH), Moss (PBUH), and Muhammad (PBUH).
He has also contemplated some facts which Muslims regard as sacrosanct
relating to the role of religion and worship in life.
