Why are so many new businesses being created? There are many reasons.
First, corporate executions and bloodbaths, benignly described as downsizing, are placing people--many 40, 50 and 60 year olds--out in the career garbage dumpster.
Second, due to information technology, middle management is disappearing quickly, as it is unnecessary to collect, sanitize, package and present information to "senior management."
Third, wages and salaries are stagnant, and today's paycheck buys 15 to 30% less than 20 years ago. Paychecks are emasculated by local, state, and federal taxes. The highest expense category for most families is "total taxes," not housing.
"Tax Freedom Day" is now celebrated in May--meaning that you work one-third of the year to feed the tax monster and the other two-thirds of the year to feed yourself and your family.
Yet the tax laws allow the owner/operator of a business, as opposed to an employee, to reduce income tax liability approximately in half.
Many women start their own businesses, since the costs of holding down a "real job" (at a gross salary of perhaps $ 18,000 to $ 24,000) erode earnings.
Childcare, a second car, a better wardrobe, lunches at restaurants, and higher family taxes can leave a lady with a true annual net take home income of $4,000, which means toiling for just $ 2.00 per hour to make others rich.
Women, as well as men, also like being their own bosses, and both sexes (not "genders," only nouns and pronouns have "gender") enjoy the personal and financial freedom of their own businesses, substantial income tax and retirement savings advantages, as well as the creative joy of a new business idea.
NEGATIVE NABOB ALERT
Now, of course, negative nabobs will attempt to discourage you from starting your own business. You will find that most of these people are non-stop whiners who never succeeded at anything. In fact, many will be decaying fruit on your family tree.
Their negativity is rooted in ignorance, fear, personal failure, and envy that you might succeed. In life, listen only to positive and successful people. Allow these lifelong human failures to wallow and whine alone in their own words of discouragement, despair, defeat, and failure.
