I am male, 39 years, a computer consultant by profession, a writer by interest
and a books and comics collector by hobby.
In the field of computers, I have worked as a systems integrator, a systems
analyst, IT recruiter, web promoter, marketing manager, programmer (VB), etc.
As a writer, my work (fiction and non-fiction) has appeared in various magazines like Science Today,
Woman's Era, Femina, My Doctor (India), The Times Fortnightly, KUCS Windows (Kuwait),
Murderous Intent, Millenium Science Fiction (USA), Labour of Love, Storia, Realms (Canada).
My work has also appeared in several web publications. Some of the links to my
work are given below:
I have scripted a comic called "Fearless Indian Super Humans".
A brief premise of the comic:
Some things about Superman always troubled me. For instance, how did Superman
have his haircuts, what with his invulnerability and all. Another thing that
troubled me was his sex life. So I went ahead and designed a character similar
to Superman in powers but not in origin. With my tongue firmly in my cheek, I called him Super Ego. I then went ahead and solved the above
mentioned two problems in my own fashion. For background, I used India, due
to two reasons: (1) novelty, (2) I was familiar with this region. Then I thought
up some supporting characters. As I was in the mood for some serious parody,
most of my supporting characters are also pastiches of some of my favourite
comics characters from Marvel and DC. These characters are: Super Id (pastiche of
Super Girl), Mr. Fearless (pastiche of Daredevil), Raja (pastiche of Kingpin),
and The Snatcher (pastiche of the Absorbing Man). Three other main characters
in the story are totally mine. Baz is a poet and a truly enigmatic individual,
without any apparent super powers. He takes up the mantle of the mentor for our
super heroes. Firdaus is a lovely girl, and fiancee of Mr. Fearless. And then
there is a character simply called Disembodied Alien Intelligence, or DAI for short.
The story gets to be quite serious in some parts, but on the whole I have kept
my touch light, and it is upbeat most of the way. I somehow don't seem to like
the dismal, brooding stuff that majority of comics are made of these days.
