Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (IE4)

Instant Access

It is possible to have instant access to all the contents of a folder without actually opening the folder. If you have IE4 installed, you can turn any folder into a Taskbar toolbar. Simply click and drag a folder, such as My Computer, to a blank area on the Taskbar. (It's a "blank" area when the black circle-with-the-line-through-it icon disappears from your mouse pointer.) Each item inside the folder should now appear as a toolbar item.

Once the folder's contents appear on your Taskbar, you can resize the new toolbar just like any other. Hold the mouse pointer over the vertical line on its left edge, and when the pointer changes to a double-pointed arrow, click and drag in either direction. To delete the toolbar, right-mouse-click this same vertical line (or any blank area on the Taskbar), select Toolbars, and deselect the folder name in the pop-out list.

Netscape Navigator

Hard Copy Bookmarks

To print out all of your bookmarked URLs, use a text editor, such as WordPad, to open your bookmark.htm file, then choose File, Print. Be sure to use a text editor, NOT a word processor, to open the file (because word processors can introduce excess characters). There's no need to make any changes to the file--just open and print it. Unfortunately, printing this way will get you just the URLs without their descriptive names. To get a list of the names by themselves (without the URLs), open your bookmark file in Navigator and print it.
