BBers Bowl 1998

The BIG Golf Event of the year, overshadowing even the Matchplay Championship, took place at Clandon Regis Golf Club, Surrey on Thursday 15th October.  The competition was organised by Billy Whizz and controlled by his son Richard (Baz) who did a great job of tracking progress and keeping scores.

The weather improved to order and it was a great day for competitive golf. Over twenty entrants took part, the first group teeing off  at eleven o'clock.

The event was sponsored by ESI who supplied trophies and prizes and kept a constant supply of refreshments available.

Non-golfers PW and Greystone spent the day discussing strategy and DanNotDan made it just in time for dinner.

The ESI Chief Executive, Julian Costley, presented the prizes and in his introduction thanked all BBers for making the event a big success. He hoped that it would become an annual event and thanked the BB for the opportunity to become involved.

Billy Whizz passed on the thanks of the BB for the great effort put in by ESI and particular thanks went to Tami Bourke who worked very hard all day keeping the players supplied with refreshments and photographing their best efforts for later publication.

The dinner which followed was an animated affair with plenty of discussion and everyone went home with some new friends and some new ideas to research.

Many thanks to all of those involved in the organisation, particularly Billy Whizz who devoted most of his investment research time to it for weeks. Thanks to the the Clandon Regis Golf Club for providing a perfect setting and to their staff for their efficient and friendly service throughout the day.
