JEXCA FLOOD RELIEF ACTIVITIES

Bangladesh has recently suffered the worst ever flood in its history. This devastating flood directly affects about 20 million people. Though the water is receding now but the need for medical and other assistance is growing day by day. The process of post-flood support to the long suffering people is critical to the rehabilitation stage.
In keeping with its tradition of humanitarian work JEXCA has very rightly come forward to stand by the
people and help them on this hour of need. JEXCA has taken a multi-functional and multi-dimensional approach to work for the flood affected people which has greatly helped a large number of flood victims and has been appreciated by all. JEXCA has been rendering medical services through the Free Friday Clinics and the recently established JEXCA Medical Team

Total Number of Patients (20 Days) 2,373

The population at Sinnirtek were composed of the flood displaced people who had taken shelter on the city protection embankment. With the receding of water, the people are now going back to their adjacent villages and the need for medical support at the Sinnirtek area is also being reduced accordingly. In this context, JEXCA Medical Camp will be closed on 05 October '98 and then the Medical Team will offer services to the affected villages at Savar and Dhamrai  area. The medical services will be offered through temporary medical camps operating 3 days a week at a particular village.

Besides operating through its own medical camps, JEXCA has also provided doctors to support the medical team of H.S. Enterprise, a business organisation located in Dhaka, who had organised relief support to the flood affected areas of Savar and Dhamrai.

Mainul (10/593) had arranged for a visit at our Medical Camp by Mrs. Matsunaga Fachiko of Japan on the 30th September'98. She is working in the Kansai Time Out of Japan as the Editor. Mrs. Fachiko has expressed her deep sympathy for the distressed and flood affected people of our country.
