Welcome to the Watkins Bluegrass Parrots Page!

We are proud to introduce our boys to you!

Rio, a blue crown conure, has been in the family for over 13 years and thinks he's the boss. Sometimes he forgets that Laura is an adult now and still scolds her--he also yells "Laura!" when the phone rings. He knows who gets all the calls around here!

Pancho, our orange winged Amazon parrot, has been a family member for over seven years. He's Allen's toughtest critic, voicing his opinions in that ear-splitting Amazon voice of his. He sometimes ‘sings' along, making pretty little trills and rolls, when Allen plays banjo.

Our birds are a special part of our family and call each of us by name, especially if they want a treat. I think Pancho's a little confused though. Allen gives him bananas all the time, each time carefully saying "banana" when he hands it over. Once while Allen was on a trip, I offered Pancho a piece of banana and he looked up at me and said, "Allen?"

Here are a couple of old pictures of the boys and me. I don't look anything like this any more! Just try to disregard my part of the photos and concentrate on the birds. That's what this page is for, anyway!

Rio watches over my shoulder as Pancho tells me something.

Last but not least, here is our precious canary Sugar. This wonderful little light departed this world last winter after spending 10 years with us. His lovely song blessed us every day, all day, and a story about him appeared in Bird Talk. We miss him terribly!

As you can see, I could go on for hours about our birds. They're wonderful! If you've enjoyed these pages, let me know. And be sure to check back from time to time. I'll be updating the picture pages whenever possible! Thanks for dropping by.
