Despite the 33 degree weather and poor turn out the mal picnic turned out to be a lot of fun for dogs and owners that did come out to support rescue and research. A big thank you again to Evelyn Chisholm our CGN evaluator who drove for 2 hours to donate her time. We only had one dog entered but he passed with flying colors. Congratulations goes out to Sarah Bowden and Durango for completing his CGN Test. Again this year our events included a fun obedience match. We had 8 dogs competing and the winners where Durango with owner Sarah Bowden for High Score Adult and Takara with her junior handler Gabby Johnstone for High Score Puppy. In the fun match conformation we had 7 dogs competing and I am happy to report that the Best of Breed went to a rescue dog Nanook who is currently being fostered by his special mom Jennifer O’Gorman. Best of Opposite was won by Suka and owner Jennifer O’Gorman , Takara with Gabby stole the best puppy in conformation as well. We had 5 dogs smooching for top Kisser with Suka winning over the judges with her hit and run moves. Baying at the moon for top howling position went to Nanook . Mukluk, Zeus and Yukon where on the side lines cheering him on, they should have been competing as they where doing the most howling. Best Costume went to Takara the jogger wearing her best jogging suit, shorts, top and even a head band. All in all we had a great time and the most important part is we raised $673.00 which will be split evenly to the Alaskan Malamute Help League and the Alaskan Malamute Research Foundation. There are a few people that I would like to thank without their help I couldn’t possibly have done it alone. Thank you to Annette Milburn and Jackie Wilson of the Pacific show committee for their generous donation of prizes for our sanction match, best kisser, best costume, and best howler. To Holly Levinter for her hard work in getting me so many wonderful prizes for the raffle and auction, and to all who attended.
