MISC. POEMS

Friendship is a strange thing....we find ourselves telling eachother the deepest details of our lives....things we don't even share with the families who raised us...but what is a friend? A confidant? A lover? A shoulder to cry on? An ear to listen? A heart to feel? A friend is all of these... and more. No matter where we met, no matter how long we've been together...I call you friend. A word so small, yet so large in feeling, a word filled with emotion, a word overflowing with love. Truly great things come in small packages Once the package of friendship has been opened, it can never be closed. It is a constant book always waiting...waiting to be read... and enjoyed. WE may have our disagreements...we may have our disappointements...we may argue...we may concern one another...friendship is a unique bond that lasts through all tribulations. A part of each of us goes into our foundations...necessary for life...and love. Friends...you and me...you brought another friend and then there were three. We started our group...our circle of friends...there is no beginning....and there is no end.

MY PAINTBRUSH

I keep my paintbrush with me

Wherever I may go
In case I need to cover up
So the real me doesn't show
I'm so afraid to show you me
Afraid of what you'll do
That you might laugh or say means things
I'm afraid I might lose you

I'd like to remove all my paint coats

To show you the real true me
But I want you to try and understand
I need you to accept what you see
So if you'll be patient and close your eyes
I'll strip of all my coats real slow
Please understand how much it hurts
To let the real me show

Now my coats are all stripped off

I feel naked bare and cold
And if you still love me with all that you see
You're my friend pure as gold

I need to save my paintbrush though

And hold it in my hand
I need to keep it handy
Just in case somebody doesn't understand
So please protect my dear friend
And thanks for loving me true
But please let me keep my paintrbrush with me
Until I love me too

LOOKING IN

You look at me and see the girl

Who lives inside a golden world
You don't believe that's all there is to see
You'll never see the real me

She smiles through a thousand tears

And harbors adolescent fears
She dreams of all that she could never be
She wades in insecurity
And hides herself inside of me
Don't say she takes it all for granted
I'm well aware of all I have
Don't say I'm disenchanted....
Please understand....it seems I've always been someone else
And looking in
Well, here I am for them to bleed
But they can't take my heart from me
And they can't bring me to my knees
They'll never know the real me

WHEN

Sometimes you just have to look back

And think about your past
How long can all this happiness last?
The tears start running down my face
In this big world, I feel so out of place
My lips stutter why and again I start to cry
I need you as someone to lean on
But of course whenever I need you, you're gone
You've gone to make up your future
One which doesn't include me
You must understand, I can't be all you want me to be
I can't be as strong as you
Now you must think low of me too
You say I must wait
I just don't know how much more of this I can take
You'll be back, and I'll still be here
And my love will still be showing through loud and clear
So, as I look deep into your eyes, and see you start to cry
I think to myself, that I've been hoping too much
And was wrong
And through it all, I manage to whisper
How Long?
*****Lindzey Rae

*LYNDA*

I wish I could make you see

How much you mean to me
Why can't you realize how much I love you
And when you hurt, I hurt too
The pain you feel must be so deep inside
So in fear, not knowing what to do, you run and hide
Well, it's time to come out, no need to fear
Because I'll always be right here
I'll be standing beside you making you smile
And helping you pick up broken lies and promises out of that huge pile
You're going to make it through this, I know that's true
Because, Lynda, we're all standing right behind you
*****Lindzey Rae

LETTING GO

When people want things they can't have

They forget to live, they forget to laugh
They force their life into a mold
Which leaves them trapped, alone and cold
You can not set your spirit free
If you're locked into what your life must be
Many things aren't left to chance
For life has patterns like a dance
Shut not out the sun's pure light
Because at times it seems to bright
Accept the light and warmth it gives
This lesson's true for all that lives
As with the light, it sometiems rains
When days are dark with thoughts of pain
But all of this part of life
To know the range from joy to strife
It's through extremes that man can grow
And modify the truths he knows
But to accept those things that life can give
Will allow you once again to live

A VIEW OF TOMORROW

And so you've been there once before

Right on through the portal door
Views of places yet to be
And there the pictures that you see
We welcome you return again
To this here place you know you've been
We've given you a single view
The choice is yours as what to do
Wonder not about these things
Or the message that they bring
Just pass the thoughts to those you know
You have many things to them to show
A glimpse you've had and thoughts you've heard
So now go out and spread the word
You now know of this power place
And the words to help the human race

I KNOW SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOU

Wouldn't the world be better

If the folks we met would say-
"I know something good about you!"
And treat you just that way

Wouldn't it be fine and Dandy

If each handclasp fond and true
Carried with it this assurance-
"I know something good about you!"

Wouldn't life be more happy

If we praised the good we see?
For there's such a lot of goodness
In the worst of you and me!

Wouldn't it be nice to practice

That fine way of thinking, too?
You know something good about me
I know something good about you
*****Author Unknown

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE

They push and push, never letting up

No matter what, itt's never good enough
We're not perfect
Why can't they see that?

They wonder why we do the things we do

Only themselves they have to blame
We can stand only so much
They're pushing us away

They want us to be what they are

Can't they see that we're not?
Maybe someday they'll understand
But then it will be too late
*****Alison Gaines

FORGETTING

The world seems to be ending

And all of us keep going around pretending
No one sees what is happening
They just go on with their lives....forgetting
Never wanting to remember what they've seen
Not wanting to think of how they've been
Knowing mom wouldn't be proud
And dad wouldn't be showing his favorism out loud
You can see the guilt in all of their eyes
Knowing how much they want, and how little they have sacraficed
all of us, innocent, believing in the wonders of the world
Wanting to know all the hidden mysteries untold
We all hold so many mysteries deep within our soul
All of us containing one big unwanted blackhole
We only exsist to ourselves
But without others we'd never do as well
We strive off one another
And by this why can't we all love eachother
Our world is a messed up place
And sometimes too much for some of us to take
We should never give up though
Never let the real hurt and pain inside show
*****Lindzey Rae

NO NEED

We're all running around in circles not knowing when to stop

Then all of a sudden we do stop, no matter how much we've fought
We forget who we are and why we're here
We look all around at the faces, and all we see is fear
We need nothing and love no one
Life is just full of pain and people hiding from the light of the sun
All of us always looking for the easy way out of things
Doesn't matter how much pain and distance it brings
We shiver at the look of all those cold eyes
And bury ourselves deeper in the warmth of all our lies
We end up going so deep it's impossible to get out
No one hears our pleas, no matter how loud we shout
They walk on by, busy with lives of their own
Though helping us would help them
They have no desire to have grown
We need no pity, we need no love
We don't need to move on, we're already a step above
Forget us, because you're the last thing we need
Forgive us for all the pain we have caused you
You might love us, but we can't love you too
*****Lindzey Rae

*TRAGEDY*

So, you've reached that point where you no longer want to try

And there's no use counting all the tears you've cried
The pain you're feeling is so endless
And the terrible memories from the past are countless
You close your eyes, and wish the world would just go away
But it is impossible for it all to disapper, it has to stay
Never let into your fears
For then you're just as far away as you are near
A lot of people are feeling the loneliness like you
But the amount of them who love others are few
We're empty bodies walking on this earth
All feeling sorry for ourselves, thinking we had a pointless birth
We hear everything but listen to no one
We get angry when others open their hearts, leaving ours undone
Our lives are chaos and continuous battles
We wander through life behind a great shadow
We can't let them see into our mind and souls
Can't let them see what's missing in that deep hole
We can't let them see how hard we've tried
Can't let them see all the tears we've cried
*****Lindzey Rae

HE IS THERE!

You walk down a lonely path, but you're not alone

You think you're getting no where, but yet you have grown
You think no one is listening, no one cares
But yet you are wrong, because he is always there

You want to hear the spirit, you want to choose the right

You want to feel "the feeling", you want to see the light
He's there for others, but not for you, and you dont' think it's fair
Seek him, as they do, and you too will know he is there

For he loves all, and helps those in need

And you are one of his children, so make his name the one you heed
So never think you're alone, sit upright, be aware
Because you too can know that he is always there
*****Lindzey Rae

*I'LL BE HERE....*

I understand all the pressure it may take

And that someday you will crash and break
I'll be right behind you all the way though
So when anything happens, you won't feel too low
I hope you understand how much I need you
And that means we are now not one, but two

When you think your life should be ending

Just open up your eyes and stop pretending
You know I'm always near
And you never have a reason to fear
Please, just always remember who you are
And when you want to be different....
Never wander too far
*****Lindzey Rae

IGNORANCE

We look at each other

But still don't see
We don't know what it's like
We dont' see the pain, deep down inside
Maybe it's being hidden
Or maybe it's too hard to let it show

We say we care

But that isn't easily seen
We say we love
But is it truly love?
When I look around
All I see is the look of hate
Everywhere I go

Can you see it

Can you hear the souls crying out in pain
Do you want to see it?
Or are you jsut closing your eyes to the world
Not wanting to see
Ignoring, pretending nothing is wrong
When you know very well, it's all wrong

Friendships based on want

Love based on needs
Everything is changing
Families aren't as strong
Work is a priority, and addictive
Feelings are useless now
They are ignored, as is everything else

We all could make a difference

But none of us care
We turn our backs on the needy
And all those who don't think the world is fair
Who nees love, when you have money
Who needs family, when you have work
Well that's simple....all of us....
*****Lindzey Rae

CAN YOU SEE IT?

I feel so alone
Though I know you're always by me
You watch over me
But never seem to see everything
You can't see inside
You can't see all the pain
Can't see all the tears I've cried
Most of them have been cried over you
Bet you never knew

To most I look happy

To some I look normal
To none but myself I look depressed
My face stained
With the tears of previous heartbreak
My mind corrupt
With previous experiences
Of knowing too much

I want to go away

Far away, where no one can see me
No one can be hurt by me
No more pain will I cause
No more hurt will be inflicted
We will all forget
And go on with our lives
As we always do

We see everything that goes wrong

But it is our decision to ignore it
We want no interruptions
To our already busy lives
We want no excuses
To help anyone but ourselves

We all need each other

But no one is willing to admit it
We all see it happening
But no one cares
*****Lindzey Rae

UNTITLED

You ask her what her name is

She says that she can't tell you
You ask what makes her so sad
She says here let me show you

It's in the way her heart got broken

In the way her green eyes cry
It's in the way she speaks so softly
In the way she no longer tries

She gave up on herself

And people gave up on her
She tried to overcome it
These words kept calling her

Does the sun still shine on you

Do the stars still beckon too
Does the wind still whisper in your ears
And does the river still run through

Do you still want to reach it?

The sky you thought you'd never touch
Do you still want to feel them?
The stars that always meant so much

She tries to explain her thoughts

But no one is there to hear them
She's tried so hard to wear a mask
Which has broken down and left her there

I ask her why she's so confused

She tells me it's the way life goes
I question her about it
She tells me this is the path she chose

She gave up on herself

And people gave up on her
She tried to overcome it
These words kept calling her
Does the sun still shine on you
Do the stars still beckon too
Does the wind still whisper in your ears
And does the river still run through

Do you still want to reach it?

The sky you thought you'd never touch
Do you still want to fell them?
The stars that always meant so much
Where can she find happiness
Where can she find hope
Can she find it in the skies above
Or is it all just a cruel joke

Her tears finally start to dry

The flowers start to bloom
She'd given up on herself
Before she'd even seen the moon
*****Colleen Parrett

SORROWS

I hold back the tears

Hide them from the outside
But inside I cry
I keep too many feelings hidden
Only to be set free
When I'm alone
The tears fall
As my mask is removed
And my shield of happiness and bliss collapses
My soul turns a deep blue
My eyes a dark grey
As my sorrows are unleashed
Secrets exposed
To the lone silence
Of only my detached soul
No one listens to these heartaches of mine
Because they are of things forbidden
That these sorrows have come
And no one must listen
For if they knew
It would only mean more misery for me.
