Christian Ziege today revealed he expects to bring his Anfield career to an end by signing for Tottenham.

The German defender isn't part of Gerard Houllier's long term plans and is now preparing himself for a move to London.

He said: "In all probability, I will play in the coming season for Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool and Spurs agreed on a transfer fee. After the usual medical examination, I will sign the contract soon.

"For me to move to London in the sporting perspective was decisive. With Spurs, I can play in my position on the left of the centre of midfield.

"Glenn Hoddle wants to structure a young squad with an international perspective around Teddy Sheringham and me, as experienced players.

"That is delightful. Naturally it also makes me happy to meet up with Steffen Freund, an old acquaintance from Germany."
