Twenty Minutes

you busied yourself

with the closing

and I watched

with stunning

recognition,

everything was still

and the world let

the rain

lock our eyes

into an

unfathomably wonderful

trance.

You'll join me

for politeness

but your girl

waits outside

of me.

I know of

how you live

and your

sadness

makes me cry.

the painful

kisses that

make me

realise the power

of the night

will destroy

my adoration

and keep you

at a distance.

as I expected

your love

was there

and you showed

me through

your embrace

with lips

and lingering

whispers

It's true now...

but the last

thing that

I want to do

is to tell you

that I'm

right

for you
