Alachua County Sheriff's Explorer Post # 983

In this site we are goning to tell you a little about our post and and hope you learn something. Maybe you would like to join us.
The aim of the post is to explore law enforcement as a possible career choice, develop physical fitness, and to serve the community through many different services.

The following is a list of the community services performed by the Alachua County Sheriff's Explorer Post:

1. Directing parking at various community functions to include festivals, ground-breaking ceremonies, football games, and civic funtions.

2. Assisting in registration, checkpoints, crowd control in charitable runs, walk-a-thins, and bike-a-thons.

3. Assisting deputies at high school and college football games.

4. Assisting in security at regional B.S.A. Camporees.

5. Assisting the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections With the ballot detail on Election Days.

6. Assisting the Sheriff's Office in the Communications Center.

7. Assisting the Crime Prevention Section in their programs such as Print-a-Kid, traffic control and other related funtions.



Now you must be asking yourself, How do I become an explorer?

 

Do I get any uniforms and Equipment?


When you become a member you get uniforms and equipment. If you are worried about what having to buy all of those uniforms and equipment don't worry about it. All you need to buy is a black mag light flashlight, a pair of black boots or shoes that can be shinned, a pair of handcuffs, little note pad, and a black pen. There are Ten dollar ($10.00) yearly dues that are due at the last meeting of the year, but that is it. All of the other unforms and Equipment are free of charge and have to be returned at when the explorer leaves the post

Where and When are the Meetings?


Meetings are held in the Explorer Office in the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, 2621 Hawthorne Road Gainesville, Fl., at 6:30PM. Some of the topics we cover in the meetings are officer safty, fire arm safty, how to search a building, patrol car orintation, constitutional law, state statues, county ordanances, and general post business. If you need to know it, we will teach it to you.
