We have received reports that
NRIs living in USA, UK and other countries have been cheated of the ancestral
land which they have entrusted to their relatives. Most of these
cases involve fradulent transfers of ownership title.
In most cases, the authorities
were not able to assist and the judicial route often provides little relief.
Some have even lost their lives in claiming back what is rightfully and
lawfully theirs.
NRIs left India in search of better livelihood and most of them have contributed tremendously towards their relatives in India and have been great contributors to the economy of India through remittances and all sorts of assistance. The contribution and sacrifices of the NRIs have been increased substantially through investments and development of the IT industry.
The value of their land in India
is of sentimental value and not in terms monetary value. It is unfair to
mistreat the NRIs in this manner.
The authorities have to do something
about this matter to restore ownership to the rightful owners.
We welcome any suggestion from
the local police in Punjab
or any other law enforcement
agencies
because some of these cases
have clear criminal implications.
If anyone is able to provide assstance to those people affected, please be kind to contact us.
