SO DO YOU KNOW THE EXCEEDING
GREATNESS OF GODS POWER
The Holy Spirit has impressed it on
my heart to write a teaching on some of the prayers the Holy Spirit inspired
the Apostle Paul to write in His letter to the church of the Ephesians and
Colossians. First lets be clear about what God considers knowledge. God wants
us to trust in his spirit of knowledge, his wisdom, understanding, Ish 11:1 and
counsel and lean not on our own understanding. That would be our brains. Second
there is the knowledge God develops in our hearts, also by his spirit and
power, from faith to faith gaining personal experience with Gods power and
ability to overcome. As God walks us through paths of righteousness (situations
God puts us in) so we learn to trust him to bring us through to Victory by
believing his Gospel (His power and ability),
In Isaiah 11:1-2 it reveals to us
that there are seven spirits of God four of them pertain to what we usually
rely on our brains for but God wants us to trust His Spirit not our flesh. The
four Spirits I am talking about are wisdom; understanding, counsel, and
knowledge please go check out these verses. In the book of I Corinthians
12:7-11 these are spiritual Gifts two of these “word of wisdom” and “word of
knowledge” come through manifestations of the Holy Spirit not our minds. In
this prayer for the Ephesians Paul is praying for them to receive a spirit of
wisdom, and knowledge, so they might be enlightened. Eph 1:16 Paul says I do
not cease to give thanks for them making mention of them in His prayers, then
he goes on to tell them what he has been asking God to give them.
First lets be clear that Paul was
writing to a church God raised up through Him already, yet he is still praying
for them to have a deeper knowledge and understanding of Gods power and
ability, these were churches that were experiencing spiritual gifts, Tongues,
prophecy, healings, miracles, but Paul by the Holy Spirit is still praying for
them to receive a better understanding of the Gospel (gods power and ability)
that Paul had already preached with demonstrations of Gods Power in their midst
(just like Jesus) so how much more should we follow his leadership and example
and pray this prayer he gave us. This prayer was shared with me at church in
1997 I have been praying it before I read my Bible out loud ever since and I
have prayed this many time for my family, friends, and everyone in the prisons,
and I will continue to do so as God leads me by His spirit, and power. So lets
take a look at what Paul was praying for as he was led by the Holy Spirit by
the way you can never go wrong praying the same prayers God gives us by the
Holy Spirit in His written Word Pray those Psalms Amen.
