I will give you a brief run down on Michael and I. By the way Michaels nick mame was Mutz and everybody knows him as such. Mutz went in to the army at the beginning of the 2nd world war some time in 1942. He went to the Pacific theater of war right after basic training. He was with the US 32nd infantry division which was a highly decorated division from the 1st world war . It was called the red arrow division and its shoulder patch showed the arrow as such. Mutz rose in rank very quickly and was a platoon sgt. as you can see he has 3 stripes and three rockers which is a tech sgt. Mutz was wounded several times and was awarde the purple heart and three oak leaf clusters for this . He also has the in infantry badge and a silver star. He served from the New Guiney Island Campaign across the Pacific Islands to the invasion of the Phillipines. He spent 36 months overseas with out coming home . This is indicated by the six gold hash marks on his left sleeve. He and I have our uniforms on because Painesville has a Pearl Harbor Day remeberance every year in wich veterans from all hte wars and branches of the military get together for dinner and Remember Pearl Harbor so that we will never forget !!!! I joined the US Marine Corps on January 29 1953 and served untill Jan. 29 1956. This was near the end of the Korean War I was in the 2 nd Marine division 10 th Marines wich is an artillery regiment I was a buck sgt and assisant section chief of a forward artillery observation section. Also artillery fire direction center. I was not in Korea for any length of time because I also trained marines at Camp Lejune to be forward observers . I also was in charge of Naval gun fire evalution and took my group to places where Naval ships were firing to qualify their guns each year.Both Mutz and I are wearing our original uniforms. I belong to the Marine Corps League which is anorgination of Marine Corp Veterans We wear our unifirms on special occasionsan and for ceramonies.
