Original Vampire Lore
According to Ukrainian and Romanian tradition these can result in a vampire!
- People that talk to themselves have 2 souls, only one passes on after death!
- Watch out for 7th sons of 7th sons.
- Children born with a red caul (amniotic membrane covering the head) will become vampires at death.
- Children born with teeth.
- When a cat or dog walks over a fresh grave.
- Improper burial rights result in an angry soul which rises to take revenge!
- Anyone who dies as a result of murder or suicide.
- Unfinished business is a cause for the undead to haunt the world.
- If you steal someone’s shadow, by putting a nail through it's head on a wall, they will become a vampire.
- A grave that's to shallow, may be unhallowed!
Protecting Yourself from a Vampire
- A vampire is described in original folklore as being flushed and ruddy, with swollen bodies and bloated faces. Often, they can be identified because they're sitting up in the grave.
- The most well known way to defend yourself from a vampire is with garlic or a holy symbol.
- Vampires cannot cross running water.
- A vampire can be slowed down by being given a menial task, such as picking up spilled seeds. They are very compulsive.
- If you locate a vampires corpse give it a bottle of whiskey or some food so that it does not have to travel.
- Vampires cannot enter your home without an invitation.
- Of course there is the last option. You can always take the initiative and kill them, this can be done in the traditional way of sticking a stake through the heart, and removing the head. Or shooting them in the heart with a silver bullet.
