| Design Type: Different View on a Common Object Media: Adobe Photoshop Description: Originally this started as a poster, CD cover, and website background for the punk band ‘Portrait of Hate’, a political rock band with very anti-Bush leanings. Unfortunately the band broke up, but they left me with the permission to use the image as I wanted. I kept the image for my portfolio because it is a very striking and powerful piece of artwork that compares George Bush to the most power hungry figures of the modern world such as Adolph Hitler or Josef Stalin. I deliberately marred the soldier’s faces for two reasons, the first being to push Bush’s face into the perspective, making him the only really noticeable figure in the entire image, the second was to make a statement about the thousands of faceless young men and women sent overseas for one man’s agenda. I made the tie red to once again make George the centerpiece of the image and as symbolism for the blood of all those who are still fighting in the Persian Gulf. |
