Road
You left me on a corner of a road,
One way was happy, the other was woe.
The only signpost pointing to you,
Was the one thing I couldn’t do.
I didn’t want to face those lonely miles,
Then find you’d greet me with a non-existent smile.
I didn’t want to wear out my shoes,
When I knew that I had everything to loose.
If you knew how far I’d gone,
Would you visit me with love that’s none?
Would you think of the time I took,
To realise I’d run out of luck?
I took the other road, away from love,
Hoping heavens would shine above.
A heavy weight stood by my side,
Letting me feel like I should hide.
The road leads to misery,
It wasn’t the lock that fitted the key.
It was more than I could take in,
So I left. Never to be seen.
