You Let Go

You said we’d always stay together,

You’d let nothing hurt me.

I thought that we would be forever.

How wrong could I have been?

You said we’d never let go.

You’d always hold me close.

I thought that I’d always know,

Close is too far away.

You said we always had the future,

We would always be fine.

You let go of my hand for a second.

But it was a lifetime.
