Setting up Grabit Newsreader
First thing to do is to download grabit newsreader which can be found here http://www.shemes.com/index.php?p=download (make sure you grab the latest beta version)
Next step is to open here up and you should be presented with a prompt screen asking you for a news server e.g. news.blueyonder.co.uk (if your with BlueYonder isp)
If it doesn’t ask you for news server you must manually add one to do this you must go to subscribed groups right click my grabit and choose add server
You are then presented with this screen
Here you must enter your news sever settings. If you already haven done so skip this section and move onto the next( make sure you only have max Simultaneous connections if you are using BlueYonder isp)
Once all login information has been entered the next step is to change one setting in options this options changes the default action of downloading binary files as .Rar rather than .Txt all you simply do is go to Edit then toolbar select preferences and then select the batch tab and untick the box at the bottom this is important if you are going to download binary files.
Next step is to download group list of your chosen server to do this simply select all groups tab on the main screen of grabit
All you simply do here is select the update list button and look on Batch and a file will be downloading if it is coming up with errors chances are that A) you entered login information incorrectly b) your credit has expired if your are using premium Usenet or C) you are using a hacked user/pass to get into a news server and the company has blocked it :{
Once the list is downloaded if you check back to the All groups screen you should see a huge list of thousands of Newsgroups most are Shite and of no use but some of the groups are a goldmine for Movie,Games,Warez releases but the real hard part of Newsgroups is knowing where the files have been posted this is where Newsgroup search sites come in handy.
this is a screenshot of www.newzbin.com one of a few decent NG release sites take a close look at the files posted these are all full movies in different formats once you have found the files which you want to download all you gotta do is to hover over the group name e.g. a.b.m.divx and it will give you the full group name e.g. a.b.m.divx translates to alt.binaries.movies.divx.
the next step is to take that group name and to search for it on the news server all you gotta do is to type the group name into the search box on grabit
and it should throw up some results like this if it doesn't throw up any results it means you either typed the name in wrong or that news server doesn't carry that particular group :(
once you have selected your group all you gotta do is to right click the name Hit subscribe and you should see the group appear in your subscribed groups list
What you know must do is select the group name right click it and select full update this will download all the headers from that particular group (NOTE-this may take some time depending on how much retention your news server has) once a full update has been downloaded you simply click on the group name and grabit will load up all the posts that you have been downloaded
Once all headers have been loaded you should see a screen full of shit like this J
Now you can either use the search function or manually filter through the group by hand to find what you want.

Once you have found the files all you simply do is right click it or highlight if there is more than one file then select grab selected articles
Now if you look on batch you will see your chosen files downloading NOTE-depending on which news server your with there will be limited to how many connections you can have to that news server to avoid lots of errors on your screen I find it best to select just one-three connection avoids lots of problems later on.
Once you choosen file has been downloaded simply locate your file's)(default location C:\program files\grabit\download find the files extract and burn its that easy J
