THE IRISHMAN SAYS...

As one of the official founders of the ROOF, I, Mike, have decided to publish a weekly article discussing an issue of concern that has recently come to my attention. While you may find some sort of philosophical value in this article, take whatever I decide to write about with a grain of salt. After all, it's only a ridiculous website, eh?

THIS WEEK'S ISSUE: Love

The big L word. To this day it defies any definition I and possibly millions of other people can come up with. There's nothing I'm more eager to discover and simultaneously frightened to accept. Apparently though, from what I've heard I can't find love intentionally, nor can I be sure if it even exists within any specific boundaries. After all, everything's relative and people are often defined by the people around them. However, I do have hope. There's no such thing as the "movie romance" in reality, but all those images of sandy starlit walks and amazing chemistry have certainly altered my perspective. Although i'm frequently ridiculed (especially by Otar) because of my no-hookup policy, I stand by my belief that heartfelt intimicacy is the better choice. It's funny how this single human emotion has been responsible for so many tragic, comedic and unbelievable situations throughout history. Most teenagers I know find this subject depressing; I've been there and I've realized that it's simply unproductive. How would I describe love? That changes by the day, but I'll give it a shot. Waking up next to someone and realizing there's nothing else to wish for. Exposing your biggest doubts and not feeling the need to conceal them again. Laughing together, looking into their eyes and forgetting anything and everything around you. But I'm getting too sappy here. Maybe i'm deluding myself, we'll see what happens.
