Raised by his grandparents, 50 fell prey to the drugs and violence surrounding him. He was amassed a small fortune and a lenthy rap sheet. It was the late run DMC DJ Jam Master Jay who took 50 under his wing and taught him the trade. In 1999, Columbia Records caught wind of 50 and signed him. In a remote studio in upstate New York, 50 turned out 36 songs, which resulted in power of a dollar, an unreleased album that featured the controversal single, "How To Rob." The song playfully depicted 50 as a hungry up-and-comer who daydreamed of robbing famous rappers. Despite its obvious comic bent, the song's targets Jay-Z, Big Pun, Sticky Fingaz and Ghostface Killah weren't amused. In april of 2000, 50 was shot nine times outside his home in Queens. While he recuperated, Columbia dropped him for their label. Without any representation, 50 hooked up with his friend Sha Money XL. Together, they recorded more than 30 songs. YOUNG BUCK On The Corner Of 106 & Park With Young Buck By The BET.com Staff Posted July 6, 2004-- Not too long ago when Young Buck of the infamous G-Unit crew came to BET to talk about his album we got the chance to ask him some of our "On The Corner Of 106 & Park" questions. Here's what he had to say.Advertisement Which reality show would you want to go on? I don't watch a lot of TV so I want my own reality show. But the show has to be more direct, more real. What's your favorite possession? My favorite possession is my gun. The gun saved my homeboy's and my life. Somebody tried to rob me and one of my boys. We got the dude before he had a chance to attack back. What do you wish you could get rid of, but you can't? My baby mama, because sometimes she gets on my nerves. Heather Hunter or Halle Berry? Halle Berry's more mature; she's already figured out. I need somebody that's on their own direction. Heather Hunter is good and both are good looking, but Halle Berry will do all right, she can last longer. When you were little, what did you want to do when you grew up? Be the biggest drug dealer on the block, that was the most anticipated thing for me. I wasn't really rapping in the beginning and there wasn't people around me with jobs. Then when music became serious to me, I started figuring -- rap. In the beginning in my life I wanted to hit the streets to make money. TONY YAYO Artist: Tony YaYo (solo artist) Marvin (Tony YaYo) Bernard is a 24 years old. He was born and raised on the streets of South Side Jamaica, Queens. Tony was a product of his environment. He started selling drugs at the age of 15. Threw selling drugs, the name (YaYo) was perfect. At this time in his life (age 15) he also started rapping, but selling drugs was his main priority. Tony Quotes "Drugs was my Life". He has never had a legal job in his life. (He's straight from the streets.) Tony has known the artist 50 cent from the streets of Queens all his life. Tony says 50 cent had the blocks of 134 and Guy Brewer in Jamaica Queens, on lock for many years. They both were hustlers. Since 50 cent was older than him, he always looked up to him. SNOOP SCENTS A WINNER 50 CENT and SNOOP DOGG have united to form a rap supergroup. The duo have united their respective crews G-Unit and Dogg Pound to record an album’s worth of material as DPG-Unit. The idea came about while members of both crews were out on the Rock The Mic hip-hop tour in the US earlier this year. “We’re gonna take over the whole world,” Dogg Pound’s Daz Dillinger told MTV in the US. “We got a song with me, Snoop Dogg, Supafly, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and 50 Cent for the G-Unit album.” He continued: “We’re going back and forth. It’s all about co-ordination. Sometimes they’re doing their parts while we’re onstage. We’ll be in there sometimes together. Especially after the show, we have our little parties or whatever. We be having a good time. We’re trying to make it a whole album, just unite together and keep it crackin’.” There are no definite plans as yet for the tracks to be released, although 50 Cent’s G-Unit Recordings is the most likely home for any DPG-Unit releases
