After years of toiling in the minors in between brief stints in the major leagues, Scott had a breakout season for the Brewers in 2003 as he earned the Players Choice Award as the National League's Outstanding Rookie.  Scott hit .314 with 100 runs scored, nine home runs, 58 RBIs, 29 doubles, eight triples and 43 stolen bases.  Scott led the Brewers in hitting, runs scored, hits and stolen bases, was second in doubles and at-bats, third in walks and fourth in RBIs.  In the National League, Scott ranked 11th in batting average, 13th in runs scored, tied for second in triples and second in stolen bases.  Scott, a third-round draft choice of the Texas Rangers in 1994, began the 2003 season with a .250 career batting average.  He began the 2002 season with Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League, where he batted .279 with nine home runs and 61 RBIs in 125 games.  He had a nine-game hitting streak in late June and had a season-high four hits Aug. 14 at Tucson.  Seattle recalled him in September and he played 14 games, hitting .200 with one home run and four runs batted in.
