The "team" consists of a type of dog called the Alaskan Racing Husky.  

They are really a combination of several types of dogs.  This "breed" started out as the heavier typical Northern type dog that you are probably most familiar with; the Malamute, Siberian Husky, etc... Over the past 40 years or more, and most importantly, during the last 20 years, these breeds have been crossed with faster ones, such as many different "hound" types. 

The typical Alaskan sled dog, those who make up the long distance and sprint racing teams that compete presently, is mostly hound type and less husky type.  This has created a dog that has both speed and stamina. 

A winning combination for many of the top competitors in mid and long distance dogsled races!

All-Ways Runnin' Kennel is home to Ghillahina's Saint Elias.  Elias is our sled dog wanna-be!  He tried out for the team but really couldn't make the cut but is the honorary mascot for the rest of the team.  He is also the stud for our Airedale kennel.  He will have pups available in early 2004.
