During meetings
between March 1999 and June 1999, AMC members voted on policies drafted by the
policy committee. The purpose of these policies is to insure a consistent
infrastructure for the club, regardless of who the leadership may be. Some minor
changes were made to the drafts by the members during the vote.
- One
audit of all funds will be performed by the October meeting by the new
officers. If all officers served the prior year, then a vote by the membership
will determine who performs the audit. Audit results will be presented by the
October meeting.
- The
“What’s Going On?” section of the newsletter is for any member to place any
notice they want. Each member is limited to 105 characters, including spaces
and punctuation but not including their name, each month.
- The
Annual Barbeque will be held in the summer, preferably in July, of each year
and will replace that month’s meeting. New officers will be installed at the
barbeque.
- The
newsletter editor will be appointed by the president and the newsletter will
be approved by the president before it goes out.
- Meeting
minutes will be kept by the secretary, included in the newsletter, and sent to
MUM for publication. Editing privileges are reserved by the president or other
designated officer. The minutes will be presented to the president at the
following business meeting on a floppy disk, if possible.
- No
one may represent the club except the officers and those the officers
designate to do so.
- A
51 percent majority of those voting is required to pass a resolution. A quorum
consists of a minimum of 5 members in good standing. Overriding a previous
vote is not permissible.
- To
change a policy, 75% of all members in good standing must vote to change.
- Meetings
will be held every 3rd Sunday at 3 pm. The meeting format will be 45
minutes business, 30-45 minutes magical instruction, 30 minutes open magic.
- Prospective
members may attend 3 meetings in a 4 month period. After that, they must join
Assembly #163 to continue attending. By the 3rd meeting, they must
perform a small effect in front of the group.
- Newsletters
are available in electronic format and
posted on the web site. Newsletters to be monthly and to be sent to members
one week before the next meeting.
- Members
in good standing can attain a lifetime Assembly #163 membership by donating
$100. This entitles the member to receive the newsletter for the remainder of
their life, regardless of location.
- An
agenda for the 45 minute business portion of the next meeting will be
distributed with each newsletter. If anyone has any business to be discussed,
they must get it to the President (or other authorized officer) by the
1st Sunday of the month for inclusion on the agenda. This shall be
done in writing (email, fax, or letter). Exceptions will be decided in a
case-by-case basis.
- There
will be a business meeting held on the first Sunday of each month at 3 pm. The
purpose of this meeting is to discuss and create a list of agenda items,
committee reports, and assigning tasks. All members are welcome to attend.
- The
Fur Rondy and Halloween shows are our only two revenue-generating shows. In
between these shows, we’ll perform shows for charitable events. A charitable
event is one that benefits a portion of the community and has no association
with any event that charity is promoting. We will not perform for a charity
event where a professional magician could otherwise be hired. It is up to each
member to identify clearly before the fact that a community service show would
interfere with a booking for them.
- The
secretary and one non-officer member will be in charge of the elections.
Nominations will be made in April, ballots sent out in May, votes counted in
June, and new officers will take over in July.
