Our world is changing rapidly. Technology has come along way since 50 years ago and
who’s to know what will come in the next half century. Only predictions can be made as
to what advances we will encounter.
One prediction comes in the field of Artificial Intelligence. AI is trying to create
machines that can think on their own. The last 50 years it went from a system that played
games, like checkers, to one that can diagnose diseases. Certainly it will go further and it
will set the trend for future computing. AI will affect our jobs, our education, and our
very lives.
Another prediction develops on the idea of space travel. Soon enough we all will
be able to venture into space like tourists. The question of how to get to space will be
mainly one of how to raise the money for the ticket. In 50 years there will be cities on the
moon and astronauts that go past Jupiter to set up telescopes to look for other earthlike
planets. And robotic probes will send back live 3-D images from other planets, moons,
asteroids, and comets. Our vacations will soon entail just traveling back to Earth.
These thoughts are not too out there. They can come true if we just work hard
and keep becoming more efficient in technology.
