[Side] The Rangers
A Special Operations Company established in the late 2200's whom have survived to the 2380's. Designed to operate with little or no Starfleet Command & Federation Council knowledge, support and supplies while monitoring politically-delicate situations. The projects delegated to these specific Starfleet Marines & their handlers often require them to employ (some might consider "distasteful") methods in order to protect the U.F.P. from the fringes...whatever may wait in the shadows.

One of many Ranger training facilities spread throughout the U.F.P. & certain "friendly" territories. The Marines have their own colony & families here, whom all understand that you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Its' citizens include Pardoned Ex-Maquis that may have become Mercenaries against the Federation & its former enemies whom have recently become The Federation's unsavory new signatories. Meanwhile, The Company keeps an ongoing attentive eye on the new Federation signatories' former and current allies' activities.

The Rangers operate a series of wheeled vehicles, hovercraft, fighters & ships as part of their missions... but they're most fond of the Solidarity-Class Warship, the Xenon-Class and the Prevaricate-Class runabouts, based on the Defiant-Class.
