Jonesboro
The Schoolyard's filled with silence today
Caused by the acts of yesterday
Bodies covered the playground
The Blood has stained the slide
Screams of joy to screams of terror
Children scatter, gripped by fear
Ten and eleven and twelve year olds die
Killed by a classmate hidden away
A child's best friend falls dead at the scene
He tries to help but Death claims him too
Today the chaos is over, The sorrow begins
Roses and letters replace those cold bodies
The town's children's eyes are filled with tears
They're afraid of school now and will be for years
Kids killing kids
Sadly it's nothing new
It happens in the city almost every day
But that's like my town
That's like my school
It can't happen there (or here)
I guess I was wrong
