Episode 34: Conversions

McManus shows the inmates his newest addition to Emerald City: the cage.

White is released from Solitary under the promise that he will change his ways. Alvarez, who had escaped six months earlier, is captured and returned to Solitary in the cell next to Supreme's. Guerra tries to get White to kill Alvarez, and White stabs Guerra. He returns to Solitary.

Doctor Nathan returns to work in Oz. Officer Howell has O'Reilly sent to the hole, where she seduces him. Nathan confronts O'Reilly about Keenan's murder, and he admits to it, professing his love for her. Nathan confides in Sister Peter-Marie that she loves O'Reilly too.

Busmalis is visited by Norma again, and he proposes to her. She says yes. Busmalis then tells Rebadow that he is digging another tunnel, and they will escape to his wedding.

Tidd asks Said to teach him the ways of Islam, and Said angrily tells him to leave. Tidd tells his drug group that he wants to change his ways, and Beecher tells Said. Said still wants nothing to do with Tidd. Tidd goes to Schillinger and tells him that he will get close enough to Said to kill him.

Governor Devlin is sworn into office for a second term, and Warden Glynn realizes how bad a secretary Busmalis is. Glynn transfers him to another job, and hires Floria, a friend of Sister Peter-Marie's. Glynn confides in Floria that he and his wife have separated.

Reverend Cloutier is sent to Oz, and gets Schillinger thinking that maybe he should put the dispute between he and Beecher behind him. Schillinger tells Carrie of the progress he has had in searching for Hank: none.

Barlog (an old friend of Keller's) is sent to Emerald City, and becomes Beecher's cellmate.

Old man Redding is sent to Emerald City, and decides to push Poet aside and lead the Homeboys. Pancamo and Morales do not like Vietnam veteran Redding. Several Chinese refugees are chosen to be housed in Emerald City. One, Yixue, volunteers to help whenever he can. Morales warns Yixue that Redding wants to kill the Chinese, so Yixue tells McManus. McManus warns Redding to stay away from the Chinese. Later, Morales kills Yixue. With no proof of the killer's identity except for a dead man's word, McManus puts Redding in the cage as punishment.
