Kareem Said overhears Kenny Wangler, Jordan Pierce, and Arnold "Poet" Jackson plotting Augustus Hill's murder because he told on Malcolm Coyle. Said gets Antonio Nappa, Vern Schillinger, and Guerra together and convinces them to help him protect Hill. Nappa is so convinced that he decides to do one better. That night, Coyle's body is found, stabbed 57 times. Wangler, Pierce, and Poet decide to chill down until the moment is right.

The first Oz boxing match is held between Chucky Pancamo and Steve Pasquin. Pancamo wins in one punch. Ryan O'Reilly asks Officer Sean Murphy for help in coaching Cyril. Murphy gives O'Reilly some pointers from far-off. Cyril is scheduled to box Jim Robson. O'Reilly asks William Cudney to steal some chloral hydrate from the medical ward for him. O'Reilly puts it in Robson's water before the match. During the match, Robson faints when Cyril punches him, and Cyril wins.

Nikolai Stanoslavski, a Russian, is sent to Emerald City. He claims he knew Alexander Vogel, and wants to shake the hand of the man who murdered him. Vern Schillinger delivers mail to death row, and has an argument with Richie Hanlen. Shirley Billinger asks Richie why they hate each other, and Richie tells her that Schillinger had killed Vogel and forced him to confess to it, so it is because of Schillinger that he's on death row. Billinger tells him to "confess" that he and Schillinger killed Vogel together, which would put Schillinger in the next cell.

Nappa has a check-up, and Doctor Nathan informs him that he's HIV-positive. He is moved out of Emerald City and put in the AIDS ward. Pancamo now has control of the Italians.

Simon Adebisi asks Poet if he still writes poetry, and Poet says no.

Said is finally able to use the hunger strike to his advantage, and gets his way.

Chris Keller is released from the hospital, and asks Sister Peter-Marie if he and Tobias Beecher can be part of her victim-offender interaction program. Later that day, Keller tries to prove his forgiveness to Beecher, but Beecher tells him that he'd stabbed Keller in the back and killed Metzger. Keller doesn't believe him, and Beecher tells him he was joking. Then he prays for a way to get back at Schillinger. The next day, 19 year-old Andrew Schillinger is sent to Emerald City.
