2001
A drug addict, White arrived in Emerald City seeking dealers. Ryan O'Reilly tried to get White to kill a reporter for him, but White failed. He stabbed Carmen Guerra because he didn't like him" and was sent to Solitary Confinement. He returned once again, but high on drugs he stabbed Tim McManus to gain favor with the inmates. McManus decided to let White stay in Emerald City, intent on saving him. White got into a fight once again, but still McManus refused to give up. White turned his back on drugs and began to annoy McManus. He got into a fight with the Latinos and was returned to Solitary.
2002
When the Solitary air ducts were being repaired, White returned to Emerald City. He seemed lost, so McManus assigned him to be cellmates with Kareem Said, who was now his mentor. Said abused his power over White and signed him up for Suzanne Fitzgerald's music program. McManus gave White his own room to practice singing, but Burr Redding forced White to deal drugs from it. When Said found out, he lost his temper and beat White badly. Said returned from the Hole and apologized to him, and the two became friends. Poet Jackson gave White drugs to help him through the Variety Show, and White performed well and gave the drugs to Poet unused. White heard a rumor that new Aryan Wolfgang Cutler planned to kill Said, so White talked to him and eventually strangled him. When he and Said went to McManus and told him, McManus angrily sent White to Solitary Confinement yet again.
2003
When evaluations came, White was denied release from Solitary. Officer Claire Howell tried to seduce him, and he threw up all over her. He was sent to the hospital for his illness. Doctor Nathan discovered that White had damage from toxic paint fumes that he'd been breathing for months. His injury was better than it could have been, however. Howell told Greg Penders and White that they have whatever Carlos Martinez had just died from. White promised not to sue if he is brought back into Emerald City, and Warden Glynn hesitantly agreed. McManus did not want White back into Emerald City, but Glynn went over his head and allowed it anyway. White became distraught when he returned, for he was informed that Said (his only friend) was dead. Said's assassin, Lemuel Idzik, was arriving in Oz, so White went to Zahir Arif (Said's replacement as Muslim leader), demanding that they take out Idzik for killing Said. Arif refused, claiming that Said's last words had been, "Do not hurt him." White went to McManus anyway, wanting to talk to Idzik. McManus naturally refused, but decided to bring Idzik into Emerald City. McManus told White that, if anything happens to Idzik, he will be sent to Solitary. Idzik arrived in Emerald City and became White's cellmate. White told Idzik that McManus had put them together because White wants him dead, and Idzik was happy. He told White that he'd transferred to Emerald City so somebody would kill him. Idzik continued to push White to kill him. White finally went to McManus, telling him what Idzik wants him to do. McManus made White leave, believing him to try and cover his tracks. White asked Idzik why he wants to die, and Idzik explained that all is futile; in the end there will be no more stars, and therefore no light, energy, or gas. White agreed to give him his answer at noon. So White spent the day researching the end of the world, and informed Idzik that, even after there is no light, energy, or gas, there is still gravity, so therefore the universe is not going to be only void. He told him that he wasn't going to kill him, so Idzik decided to go with plan B. The next morning, officers discovered White's throat had been slit by Idzik. Idzik was put into Solitary, and McManus stared at White's body in the morgue.
