2002

Ex-priest Daniel Meehan arrived, and sensed something was wrong with his cellmate, Ryan O'Reilly. Every time Meehan tried to help Ryan, he refused him. Meehan met Suzanne, Ryan's mother, and asked her for the details of Ryan's case and learned that Ryan's retarded brother Cyril was on trial facing the death penalty. Meehan tried to get Ryan to help save Cyril, but still Ryan refused. Meehan talked to Ryan in their cell, but Ryan refused to talk about his past at all. Meehan realized that Ryan refuses to open up to a priest, so Meehan called Ryan's Aunt Brenda and asked about his childhood. That night, he asked Ryan about his baby sister Caroline, who'd fallen out of her crib and died 30 years ago. Ryan burst into tears but refused to talk about it, but the next day decided to help Meehan save Cyril's life.

2003

Father Meehan, other than trying to help Ryan and Cyril, also helped Suzanne by being cast as the lead in her production of "Macbeth". A short while later, he died of an aneurism in his cell.
