Rock Mog

This machine started out as a 1962 404 Mercedes Unimog.It has a stock frame and transmission and torque tubes.It has a stock front axle and a stock front axle in the rear that is reversed for rear stearing. All the stearing is hydraulic.It has a LT-1 350 from a 1993 Camero producing 325 horse power. The engine and the transmission are mounted on 3 points and the role cage is mounted on 4 points similar to the Unimog bed mounting.It has a 12000lb warn electric winch.It presently has Michlein XZL 365 80R 20 tires on 9in rims with steel beadlocks.

Cracked Bell Housing

Since the engine and transmission are mounted as on unit in order to let the frame flex there was alot of pressure on the bell housing. The orginal 404's have braces that go from the oil pan to the bottom of the transmission. The bell housing was from an GM diesel and was aluminum. It developed a crack on the drivers side that we were watching. During an event when we were pushing it pretty hard it cracked all the way. It was replaced with a steel bell housing made for dragsters. We also added some braces to the bottom of the transmission.
