"Join the Fun of Butterfly Mania"

  at school, at home, in the community....

  Observe, describe, draw, model -- and COMMUNICATE!

Young children in the Nation's Capital are studying caterpillars from their schoolyard garden.  After feeding the caterpillars and observing their metamorphosis, these students are bursting with energy and new thoughts.  Parents dropping off their children to school are checking on the maturing chrysalis and entering into this process of learning as well. 

This year, in  partnership with the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Education and Museum Studies   and  the school PTA, we are extending ourselves to the web.  Explore our  Model Classroom Activities, participate in an online exchange of information about butterflies on Capitol Hill and seek out references and links to enhance your hands-on activities!
