Magick Rules

  • Whenever changing from sit-down to online there are changes to be made. However one must try to stay close to the true form as possible. Therefore we have came up with the following way to use spells online.
  • First of all there are a core grouping of ten sections. a Gifted or Blessed has 22 spells to start out with to use and upto 2 specialized areas that they may have higher than moderate spells from. The rest of the spell list must be moderate or lower. Any outside of the core must be okayed by the King or Queen. We also accept dnd spells but set in the following manner. minor is (1-2) moderate is (3-4) major is (5-6) and supreme is 7+ in levels of dnd.
  • One MUST research any of the rest to increase their spell list.
  • For the Elementals unless you have specialized in it (meaning who taught you and how you learned it in the bio), only one type may you have higher than moderate spells.
  • Spells in the list may be increased double each time in size, amount, damage, mana cost much as you wish only you you must pay for the minor extras at 3 mana, moderate at 5 mana, major at 10 mana, and supreme at 50 mana unless told otherwise.((this is only set up for online spells)) One more thing.. these spell lists are not the end all be all.. We are asking for any suggestions for new spells to add.. but we need them to stay within what we are looking for.

Specialty List:

These spells are not readily available to the average spell caster. They must be either researched or you should start out with them with an explanation in your character’s biography of why you do know it if you are not a specialty caster.

The following list has the primary spell caster type with the section they start out with. Other magick users may switch from the core list one of these with a short explanation for why they have it. For example if a Spellweaver does not want to know necromancy they could substitute nature instead.

Spellweavers/Songweavers/Chaplins/Haruspex/ may add one from this list to their original repretroire.

Just how much mana or energy can One have to make a day?

It costs 3 mana for a minor spell, 10 mana for a moderate spell, 25 mana for a major spell, and 100 mana for a supreme spell.

Mana is set up so that all newbies start with 250 for regular members. 95 for non members unless they are npcs then its different. 400 for guildsmen, 750 for council and 1000 for the king or queen of the land. Then for every month there after you can add 15. Allowing that character able to do one supreme spell with leftovers, or 12 moderate spells, or 4 major spells with leftovers, or 40 minor spells or a mixture. Most will not keep track of how much they use but that is ok as long as it is not over done. After using that much you can’t cast another spell without over taxing yourself until you have rested fully or meditated the required amount and you will be exhausted.

Overtaxing Yourself

It is possible for one to overtax their mana. ((taking more out then they have available)). If one does so they can die from the tearing of the mind or overdoing it as the energy starts to give negative reactions upto a possible coma or even death.

Supreme spells can be a dangerous thing.

Supreme spells have the ability to knock the wind out of you literally and some can be dangerous enough to kill you, if you do it alone. It is easier and less taxing to have more than one for a supreme spell. VERY FEW are able to do a supreme spell alone without hurting themselves. Athena is one that can and sometimes she does get hurt.

Meaning of Low or No Magick Advisory.

All this means if an advisory is out and we must keep with low magick meaning nothing higher than moderate may be cast unless you go out to the woods and away from the Castle. To break this rule during the time it is going on is considered high treason unless on certain circumstances.

Meaning of Free Form:

As we are trying to keep a balance so all characters in the room feel significant we must clarify what "Free Form" means.

Free Form is to use a spell in a way that might not be duplicated by another as it is original and yours. However, you do use the spell name and tell how it works.

For example lets say:

~places up my hands chanting the words " wind come together weaving around to create a "gust of wind" sending it toward my target to knock him down." pushing my hands out to send the wind to its target~

This is Free Form. However, "Gust of Wind" is a spell in the spell list for the Vision.

We do have characters that come from other realms using ADND, Some even make up their own spells and this is fine to a point.

Therefore in order to use a spell not from our list we May not accept your spell as working depending on the level of the spell and the magick it uses unless you show it to the Mistress of the Vision for approval first (King and Queen).

Cantrips are accepted without question.

Wyld Magick

Since the Rechoning all magick has become wyld therefore if you get an odd on your time stamp post your spell went through. If you get a 0 or 00 then you made it do exactly what you wanted. If you get and even you failed and if you get a 1 or 11 you not only failed but it backfired.

However, using spells that are not on the Vision spell list you run the risk of it not working. Therefore as a suggestion get the spell agreed upon before using it.

You may try the spell in the room first without approval but if it is too high in magick you will be told it does not work and will be told that it needed approval first. Or you may run the risk of killing yourself when a Scout of the Unknown comes to find out who did the high magick.

IN ALL TENSE AND PURPOSES IF YOU WANT TO DO MAGICK HERE OF ANY SIGNIFICANT POWER NOT IN THE VISION SPELLS YOU MUST SEE THE KING OR QUEEN FIRST FOR ACCEPTANCE OF SAID SPELL. AND HAVE A BIO OF YOUR SPELLS AND OF YOUR HISTORY. ONCE DONE YOU MAY BE MADE AN HONORARY MEMBER OR MEMBER DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WISH.

All characters that are of the home SHOULD complete a bio of there spells and of their history to be accepted fully of any outside spells.

Any one outside can only use minor spells and cantrips until their bio, and spell list are accepted unless approved by the King or Queen.

Mana, Meditation and Spellcasting Times

Mana is your actual energy taking up what you use within yourself tiring you quickly. Blessed gather their power from the Exalted but if you upset them they may not give you your power. You should take the time to pray for your powers when it is possible. Learn to say it in fancy wording so that perhaps the Exalted or the spell go off correctly.

Remember for spells especially massive spells it takes a long time to prepare you need to have he ingredients and time to get your spell ready. When in battle you are only saying the very last part of the spell so it goes off quickly. Therefore, 1 action for minor, 2 actions for moderate, a full post for major and supreme take several posts to create.

Wyld Magick

There is a way to make your magick work automatically but you can do that for only one discipline as you can only Master one. If you are a healer and finished with your training you get healing spells to work automatically. If you are a druid and choose nature as your major discipline they will work. Elementalist get elements to work automatically. Theives get backstabbing automatically and Archers get archery automatically once they have mastered it.

Vulfskins

Vulfskins are the rulers and the masters of their discipline. They are born with the ablity and even young they demonstrate it far better then any other. Because of this their discipline is always automatic. Vulfskins can bear other vulfskins but only a replacement for their discipline. If there are two Vulfskins together that create they will tend to have twins and their children will be vulfskins of their mother or father discipline. Godlings can also create Vulfskins.

Awakeners:

Awakeners are the only ones that can call upon the OLD ONES. Only the Mistress of the Vision may say if you can be an awakener.

Assended:

Assended (godlings) are given one special ablity~stated only by the King or Queen~, double the mana if it is applicable(unless they are a mana pool then it will be expressed by the Masters of the Vision which in this case is the King and Queen), Miracles and Benedictions. To become an assended you MUST take the trials. It is not assumed that you are given such ability that easily. If you take the trials you have a VERY GOOD chance of NOT surviving. You are WARNED. With success then and only then are you given such responsibility but you are also hunted by the Scouts of the Unknown and Unknown. Now that the Unknown is defeated there are still ones that wish to kill you.

Should you wish to assend you will never grow older from the time you take the trials, you can’t have children without the approval of Neos as your children when born afterwords have a higher chance of being a vulfskin. You are immortal but you can die.

You become an Exalted when you die however only have spirit form. Only one Exalted does have a body now that the Unknown is defeated and that is Neos. Online only the Mistress of the Vision ie King and Queen may be the NPC of these two Exalted. Therefore, No Exalted (gods) can be played as characters. Any character that comes in as saying they are a god. May say they are immortal as a Vampire is immortal but they are NOT gods to us. There is only ONE God in this Game and that is the Creator and NO one plays the Creator. The Exalted are used to channel the creators power into the people but what they really are are people from the past that people put so much power into their name that it can cause magick. They cease as gods when they are forgotten but are said they go to the Ellisium where the others go to the golden plains.

The Blessed

Paladins/Clerics/Priests/Chaplins

The Blessed by the grace of the Exalted, Old Ones and Creator are given abilities in order to get the message out to the others by channeling their prayers through their perspective Exalted that they revere. They are also given traits above and beyond to help with their work.

The Blessed (Paladins,Clerics, Priest, Chaplins) may learn from other lists IF their Exalted they revere is leaning toward that way. They are able to take the ability of healing. Those with healing given as of their core list may add two free healing spells.

Unlike ADND there is no turning of the undead separate from the lists. You will find that there is a Turning of the Undead for paladins and of the Living for anti-paladins in Chaos/Order.

Immunities are based upon your race and background. Also with their Exalted they may add to the core list one of the Exalted’s main work. However at any time a Council member may say your prayer did not work; as the Exalted are not always listening and granting your prayer. To gain a new prayer you need to research the required amount and then pray the required amount of time and try the ritual with a Council Member present. It is either accepted and works or does not. If it is not in the spell list it must be agreed upon by the Masters of the Vision.

For example:

Goddess/Gaia would give the ability of Nature as she is a channellor for Nature.
Majestyka would give the ability of can give the variety of ones as she is the Exalted of Magick and Healing.
Eva would give the ability of can give the variety of ones as she is the Exalted of Healing and Life.
Anastacia would give the ability of can give the variety of ones as she is the Exalted of Dreams.
Vormav would give the ability of War and Chaos. And so on.
The Gifted

All the other magick users:

For the rest of the magick users it may seem they are not getting their fair share, however it is easier for a Gifted to research and learn new spells than it is for a Blessed to be blessed with a new prayer.

All a gifted needs is the right ingredients and the recipe for it to work. Whereas a Blessed needs their Exalted to listen to them and grant them their power yet Exalted are finicky as they were in life they are in the after life.

Therefore, for to gain a new spell all you need to do is show in the room you are researching it for a required amount of time and practice it in front of a council member.

Also for the Gifted there is a school to help with your library. You are allowed to even research spells that are NOT in the spell lists provided the Masters of the Vision agrees to allow them in.

Who hands out the magick?

For Minstrils and Bards the magick comes from a Muse. For the Gifted it comes from a book or spell. For the Blessed it comes from an Exalted (god). For the Awakeners it comes from the OLD ONES. For the Assended it comes from an Exalted and God. Note from the Masters of the Vision:

You may use other spells but would PREFER you to stay away from other systems other than the Vision. If you have a spell you wish to see and wish to use please feel free to suggest it to us so that we might add it to the list. Anyone that does suggests spells that we use will be given due credit but it might not quite look the same as how you sent it to us.
