Scope

ALTERNATIVE ENERGY or RENEWABLE FUELS are any substitutes for fossil fuels. The US uses primarily fossil fuels and will continue until they run out (some estimate in 50-70 years) or when cost for alternative fuels decrease. Following the Arab oil embargos of the 1970s and the founding of the Dept. of Energy, alot of reference books on AE were available. In the 90s all general energy ref books include sections on various AE: Bioenergy, Geothermal, Nuclear, Ocean, Tidal, Solar, Waste, Water and Wind. The following materials are from the University of Maryland McKeldin (Mck) or Engineering (EN) libraries.
