Playing right now- the Last Unicorn melody!

The Last Unicorn Song:

When the last eagle flies over the last crumbling mountain

And the last lion roars at the last dusty fountain.

In the shadow of the forest, though she may be old and worn

They will stare, unbelieveing, at the last unicorn.

When the first breath of winter

Through the flowers is icing

And you look to the North and a pale moon is rising

And it seems like all is dying

And would leave the world to mourn.

In the distance, hear her laughter! It's the last unicorn!

I'm alive!!!!! I'm alive!!!!!!

When the last moon is cast over the last star of morning

And the future has passed without even a last desperate warning.

Look into the sky where through the clouds a path is formed

Look and see her- how she sparkles!

It's the last unicorn!

I'm alive!!!!! I'm alive!!!!

Here is a cute little unicorn I adopted from The Unicorn Friendship Center.

Have you ever seen the movie The Last Unicorn? That is my absolute favorite movie in the world! I watched it all the time when I was little, and I still watch it a lot now! I really recommend renting the video as soon as possible. (The book, by Peter S. Beagle, is also absolutely fabulous!) Here is a brief outline of what the movie is about:

It begins in the enchanted forest, where a beautiful unicorn overhears two men talking aout how all the unicorns of the world have vanished. 'Vanished?' The unicorn wonders. How can that be possible? She then talks to a butterfly who tells her the story of the Red Bull, who is taken care of by King Haggard. The Red Bull had chased all the unicorns into the sea. The Unicorn then decides she has no choice but to go and rescue them. She goes on the long journey and on the way is joined by Schmendrick the magician and Molly Grue. They are almost at King Haggard's castle when the Red Bull appears. To save the Unicorn, Schmendrick changes her into a human being, which confuses the Red Bull, who can only see unicorns. The Unicorn is horrified to be in the human figure, but Schmendrick can't change her back. They reach the castle and call the Unicorn Lady Amalthea. King Haggard looks into her eyes and sees she is a unicorn, but he doesn't say anything. His son, Prince Lir, falls in love with the Unicorn. She also falls in love with him. Schmendrick and Molly realize she is becoming more and more like a human every day, and that if they don't find the unicorns soon, she will remain a unicorn forever. But now that she's in love, and only vaguely remembers being a unicorn at all, how can they convince her to change back and fight? When she finally changes back, she will never be the same again.

This movie enchants everyone, and along with the great story plot, has beautiful music. (The song The Last Unicorn from above is the theme song to this movie.)

That is a picture of the young unicorn. One of the interesting things about this movie is that the Unicorn realizes that when she returns back to her unicorn image, she will never be a true unicorn at heart again. One of the qualities of a unicorn is that she can never feel regret. She can feel sorrow, but it is not the same thing. But if she changes back, she will regret. I have always found this interesting the way she ponders on it. She will never be the same again. from the movie: UNICORN: I am a little afraid to go home. I have been mortal, and some part of me is mortal yet. I am no longer like the others; for no unicorn was ever born who could regret. But now I do. I regret.

Here are some of my personal favorite lines from the movie: (more to be added:)
Schmendrick: Oh please, please don't cry. If you've become human enough to cry, then no magic in the world can change you back.

Schmendrick: The magic chose the shape, not I. I am a bearer; I am a dwelling; I am a messenger!
Molly: You are an idiot! Do you hear me?

Lir: I did not know what she was until now, but I knew the first time I saw her that she was something more than I could see. Unicorn, mermaid, lamia, sorceress, Gorgon - no name you give her would surprise me, or frighten me. I love whom I love.

AND MY FAVORITE LINES OF ALL TIME.......

UNICORN: You are a true wizard now, as you always wished. Does it make you happy?
SCHMENDRICK: Well, men don't always know when they're happy, but I-I think so. And you?
UNICORN: I am a little afraid to go home. I have been mortal, and some part of me is mortal yet. I am no longer like the others; for no unicorn was ever born who could regret. But now I do. I regret.
SCHMENDRICK: I am sorry, I have done you evil and I cannot undo it.
UNICORN: No. Unicorns are in the world again. No sorrow will live in me as long as that joy - save one, and I thank you for that part too. Farewell, good magician. I will try to go home.
