HODGES’ GREY GHOSTS

Motorised Horse Cavalry

Turn Ten

Jesse is flabbergasted at the report from the recon team. "Durn, who would have though it. Sounds like a scene I saw in a movie once. Are they for real?" <chuckles> "Well there's the opportunity to get some fuel maybe. But we're gonna have to be cautious on the approach. First thing we need to do is relocate from this spot thanks to Gunner there <glares at Drake>"

Freestone slammed on the breaks and almost fainted. It had been a long hard trip with little rest and the never ending strain of when, not if they were going to run into the enemy. Freestone looked over at the Nurse at his side and smiled. This group looked like US troops but there were a lot of Marauders around. "Take the drivers set when I get out. If they open up on me, get out of here fast." Freestone steps out. "This is a medical team attached to the 5th Infantry Division. I would like to know who is in charge here and what you want." Capt Freestone calls out to the men in front of him. Capt Michael Freestone M1911A1 on hip

After capturing the MEDs Grey whispers " Jesse what do you think, Should we keep them or let them wander off on there own? A few of uscould really use a surgeon."
Gunnery Sergeant Grey " Captain Please Grab your med bag and follow Staff  Sergeant Adams ,we have wounded." Gsgt.Grey Ak-47 & .45

"Hey Grey, are we gonna move out now that we made all the racket? I figure Ivan will come looking for the source of the gunfire soon. And there ain't much ammo for this here Mark Nineteen." Gomez looks anxiously as he points over his shoulder at the Humvee with the Grenade Launcher on top. Gomez really does not wait for an answer before heading to the Humvee and securing gear inside it. Staff Sergeant Gomez MP-5SD3

Captain  Freestone quickly retraces his steps to the M977A1 ambulance and retrieves his medical bag. "Stay here." He responds to the Nurse. "Trooper keep an eye on the vehicle and the equipment till I say otherwise." He says to the Trooper that had been assigned to help him get out. "OK Sarg'nt lead off." Freestone says to the waiting Gunny.

"Yessir," Logan said with resignation. If these damned medicos didn't keep moving they were never going to get back to US forces he thought sullenly. Jason makes sure his horse has some good grazing, hobbles him, and starts to walk a circuit around the ambulance. He watches the surrounding area, and tries to keep alert. Specialist Four Jason Logan

Sergeant Langora will provide security for the ambulance and its personel while the others take care of the wounded and get ready to move out, while provinding security he will check out the nurses discretely and start a friendly coversation with them,"Hi ladies!..I'm Sergeant Langora, but people call me SEB..or RICO..! it is nice to see there is still beautiful women in this world",tries to get to know the names and so on...he will through in some sweet talking here and there nicely and observe the nurses reactions, to see which ones are interested. Lieutenants Connors, Newman, Kelsog, and Fawon
1st LT Sandy Connors mid 30's, Brunette, average looks, wedding band and engagement ring, polite, but reserved doesn't say much
2nd Lt Jenny Newman, mid 20's, Brunette, very attractive, engagement ring, appears very tired doesn't say anything
2nd Lt Linda Kelsog, mid 20's, blond, average looks, has an EFMB patch on her fatiges, modified fast draw holster for her 45, definitely checking out the guys
2nd Lt Marcia Fawon, looks straight out of high school, average looks popped the hood on the Hummer Ambulance and seems to know what she's looking at. Upon hearing Gunnery Sergeant Grey's command to move out, she hops in the driver seat and says "Ok but we're not going far."

Once the rest of the group is ready to move out, SGT. Langora will go to his
vehicle and get ready to move out. "Ok lets go get some fuel from the Patton guys...some hot food would be nice too!" SGT. Langora said.
M4A1 carbine (Car 15) at the ready!

Sgt. Adams pulls off his doctors kit as they jog over to where he left the wounded man in comfort. "Ok Freestone, here's the deal. We had a friendly fire situation so don't go about causing too much of a stir. Tensions are high here as I'm sure yours are too. I did not sight your rank because snipers can read lips and I will speak to you with respect as far as that
goes so I hope you understand. I will not salute you either as that will denote your rank to what ever else may be out there so don't get offended. Any questions?"

“I’m Combat Surgeon I know score. Let me see casualties and we’ll take it from there.”

Captain Hodges asked, "Doc, can he be moved? We really need to relocate from here ASAP. Every Ivan within 5 miles will vector here before long."Without really waiting for a response he turns to Grey. "Grey, get the troops ready to roll. We'll relocate two
klicks further. That should place us about a klick from the tankers. Keep security tight."
Jess M16, M79 (5HE) getting ready to move

Grey " Ok people Let's get moving ."

Adams jumps in the back of his HUMMER helping the wounded and Freestone.
"Langora! Get this thing moving!!"

“I said move out. I did not say hop in the vehicles. Grab your gear and lets go the Captain is waiting so move out." Gunnery Sergeant Grey.

"Negative, the army made me responsible for this vehicle. I am not leaving
it." SSG Gomez

SARGENT!...listen with all do respect, these vehicles are our best way out of here. they can cover more distance than your horse cavalry and they can also work as weapons platforms...I know you know this...therefore, I recommend to leave a vehicle security detail behind while the others go get fuel or find a operational vehicle with fuel(any type) that can get us out of here In the meantime there is to much equipment, weapons and supplies in these vehicles that can improve our chances for survival. So if you men want to walk your way(horse ride) out of here fine go ahead, but let me tell you...Ivan has
plenty of vehicles that will out run you in a heart beat! So lets do a pit stop and gather fuel wherever we can and get these vehicles running so we can out run Ivan for a little while longer!........I will stay to guard the vehicles and who ever else wants to stay is fine but we need to protect them....SARGENT!" SGT. Langora will turn his back to Marine NCO and walk towards the vehicles to set up a security perimeter.
SGT. Langora M4A1 carabine (car 15) at the ready

SGT. Langora:"Sir, if you would considered my opinion for a second; I don't agree with leaving the vehicle behind...when you reconsolidated and reorganize the equipment it should be in an equal manner; therefore, ammo should be distributed evenly, and the fuel should be distributed equally throughout the vehicles...three vehicles are better than one for many reasons....plus there is an M-60 mounted on the vehicle that could be use
for support. if we come across that fuel in the camp ahead then there will be no need to return here to recover the vehicle. Also is we leave it behind disable and we do get fuel 2 klicks ahead, I personally think I would have been a stupid move; since we lost a vehicle for no reason. therefore, I suggest to redistribute the fuel left evenly and to move foward. if we are not able to get fuel then we can think about what are we going to to with
the vehicles..Sir"
Langora will wait for a response from the C.O

The younger cavalryman of the Grey Ghosts  are slowly spacing themselves out flicking off safeties and mutterings about who do these Hummer Jockeys think they are...
Gunnery Sergeant Grey replied " Sgt. Langora The Captain said he wanted you ready to move out so get ready. Yes I realised that someone will have to watch the vehicles & the wounded. I figured it would be me and a few volonteers. And the Captain will approve or disapprove any volounteers. Drake you are I are volunteering! Grey notices a cohesion among the younger Cav troops that wasn’t there before.

Sergeant. Langora replies to Gunnery Sergeant Grey:" OK let's set something straight, SARGENT, I know how things are done but before we go anywhere we(referring to the men as a whole) need to know the plan, who is going where and doing what...that way we can get ready and avoid having these kinds of FUBAR arguments do to the lack of fast planing. who is staying as rear detachement, who is going on recon, what are we looking for, and when are we coming back...or maybe when are we liking back...we need a challenge and password so we don't shoot each other again...we just met and we need to start communicating as a team so that we can sure act as one....SARGENT

Staff Sergeant Gomez: "I'm with Langora. I stay with the vehicles. I signed for this property I intend to see to it I turn it back in too. So you got some tall explaining to do before you convince me.

SGT. Langora will wait for and explanation

Langora notices the younger cav troops are really looking pissed and Drake the former 60 gunner has flicked the safety off and on three times on his AK

Sgt. Langora will stand his ground but not wanting to start anything just to make sure his point gets across with a firm tone! But will react on self defense if anything happens.

Gunnery Sergeant Grey " Well Jesse How do you want it done? "
" Who stays and baby sits the vehicles for at least a day maybe 3 days, & guards the wounded, & camouflages the vehicles . ""Who goes to try & get the fuel?"
" After 3 days I would leave them & move west towards Germany."

"Grey, I dont want to leave anyone or any vehicles here. Have someone check the fuel situation in the ambulance and siphon what we need to move the other two hummers a mile up the road. We're only moving about 2 klicks so a splash should do it for each vehicle. We'll discuss the leaving for Germany after we find out if the gas station is open up ahead. Let's get relocated then decide on the approach to the tankers. We've wasted enough time since Drake told Ivan where we are." "Make sure everyone has the running password too. No more foul ups if we can help it. IF they need a driver, give'em
Drake. At least he's not behind a weapon. That boy scares the bejesus outta me sometimes.""Send a two man team ahead to find us a spot about two
klicks up. Let's get moving!" Jesse Hodges Captain, Infantry Commanding

"That's much more like it, Sir. Thank you." Gomez starts looking for a stick to measure the depth of fuel in the tanks.

Capain Hodges coninued without really waiting for a response he turns to Grey. "Grey, get the troops ready to roll. We'll relocate two klicks further. That should place us about a klick from the tankers. Keep security tight."
"If your going to move you are going to move without this man and myself." Freestone says kneeling next to the wounded man and starting to work.

"Nurse Connors, At this time I am not concerned with the fealings of your nurses. Our first priority is the health of these wounded. And I do not think these men comrades care much for your feeling at this time either." Freestone snaps. Then turns on her and steps right in her face. "If you ever call myself or someone else by there rank out here in the open I will dump your tight almighty ass on the side of the road. Is that crystal! Nurse.

Lieutenant Connors doesn’t back down an inch. “Crystal you don’t have a clue! You’re not concerned? I advise you to start! I was in the Mideast long before you probabily entered Med School. Oh if I had a dime for evertime a doctor told me how concerned he was about the health of the patient. They see my nurses ten times more than you. And you’ll dump what on the road? Give it your best shot sir.

Lt Kelsog tried to defuse the situation by tacfully interupting, "Ma'm I have the report" Connors gestures toward Captain Freestone

“Inform the DOCTOR”

Sir, Pt One Catagory III total care Specialist Croix Vital Signs Stable, moderate pain, abdominal wound with bullet removed by field medic, no signs of infection, non-penetrating chest wound with broken ribs immobilized by you sir, pt is stable and ready for transport. Do wish to give anything for pain sir?"
"Very good Kelsog, give him only mild pain sedative at this time. If he becomes to bad let me know and we will see at that time." Freestone replies with a thankful smile that he has a nurse that can work in this environment without getting her panties in an uproar.

Lietenant looks at Connors before giving the medication, only after she discreetly nods does she administer it.

Pt Two Catagory I walking wounded Specialist Carly Vital Signs stable, no pain, right arm wound checked by you sir, bullet passed through cleanly no signs of infection. Do you wish to give antibiotics sir?""Yes, The wounds were open for a while clean them well and administer antibiotics." Freestone replies to the nurse.

Again she waits until Connors nods before carrying out the order

Captain Freestone notices the other two nurses have loaded the stretcher patient in the ambulance. All seemed a bit annoyed by the 'Jones' incident. Field surgery plus several days cross country rate a little self recognition they feel.

Connors firmly says, “ladies you heard the Physician.” Tension in the air is high. Lieutenant Fawan waits until Connors walks over and double checks the patients in the back of the ambulance. “Doctor that girl was raised on the streets of New York, that straight razor in her boot ain’t for shaving her legs.” and then walks off.

{OOC} Kelsog has an EFMB Expert Field Medical Badge similiar to the Expert Infantry Badge except for Line Medics.

Not sure who is in charge, Jason Logan will look to Freeman for his orders. He was assigned to protect the medicos, and that is what he will do.

Freeman will look up. "Ok get things ready to move. At this time size is protection." He says to Jason

Gunnery Sergeant  Grey " Ok everybody new challenge is Sugar & the counter is Cane, every body got it. Captain said get yourselves ready to move so let's load up." "Lt. would you kindly take one of our old timers and scout ahead we need some one up front who knows what he is doing. I can't since I have to get every one moving."I quickly check each vehicles fuel by thumping on there fuel tanks. "Captain here are some options, the M-60 Hummer has maybe 2ltrs. The Mk-19 Hummer has about 4 ltrs. And finally the Ambulance has may be about 8ltrs. I'm guessing They might get .5 Klick per ltr. " " I would suggest we take every thing of value off the M-60 hummer and load it on the other 2. Then syphon it's tank and camouflage it in the woods & disable it remove its Distributor or something fast. Or just destroy it, while the wounded are being taken care of & loaded." Prep my horse & gear ensure my .50 is secured, then go back through &check on every body else. When every one is loaded & ready to go report it to Jesse." We are ready to move out."Gsgt. Grey Ak-47 & .45

{OOC} Hummer M-60 2 liters Hummer GL 4 liters Hummer Ambulance 8 liters

Methanol 1.6 klicks on the road .5 klicks cross country

"Begging the Captain's pardon for buttin' in. Would it be faster to just start rolling now? If one runs out of fuel before we get where we are goingwe can push it with another, Sir. Moving fuel takes time. Time we don't seem to have, Sir."Gomez. (not wearing rank)  arm resting atop the Mk-19

Jesse looks up at the trooper in the gunslot, "Guess so, heck there just might be enough fumes left for us to move the mile. Sounds like a plan. Gunny, are the scouts out? Have someone throw the bike on top of one of the vehicles for now, we might be able to salvage or trade it later."
"Order of march.. point, two men mounted, one mounted each flank, forward element.. two mounted, then MK19, ambulance, M60, follwed by rest of mounted as rear guard. OK with you Gunny? Make the assignments, I'll ride forward element, DRAKE! Your with me." "Every one ready? Lets get mounted and move out."
"Make it happen Gunny. If we get fuel soon, it won't be here long hopefully, so don’t make it permanent. It will give us the driver flexability too."
Specific Order of march

Scouts LT Ski, and Jones

Point Smith and Bedsada

Right flank Frug

Forward mounted Myself and Drake

Hummer Mk19 Longoria and Adams

Rear Guard Molstein and Grey

"Staff Sergeant Gomez stands up in the Hummer he is in, "YO, I NEED A DRIVER. MINE ISEXHAUSTED.

“Hey are you guys deaf,” he repeats

" I NEED A DRIVER. MINE IS EXHAUSTED." Specialist Nickolas Lynch lay in a deep sleep in the back of the Hummer where he had collapsed the moment they stopped.

Lieutenant Connors nods to Kelsog, “Keep me informed” and more loudly “I need some air” as she hops in Hummer checks Lynch and says to Gomez your friend looks exhausted, I’ll drive”

BAM! BAM! BAM!
Just like someone predicted that M-60 fire was noticed.
BAM! Bam! BAM!
Gunnery Sergeant Grey felt the breeze pass over what little hair he had as the bullet whizzed overhead, I'm really getting tired of this crap he thought as he hit the dirt AGAIN...
Captain Hodges had two rounds kick up the dirt to the left and right of him-DAMN I HATE I BEING RIGHT as he dived for cover.
Ok the weapons specialists among you know from the sound its probabily two 30'06's being fired and from the spacing of the shots are bolt action rifles.
Captain Freestone had two rounds pass through his medical bag and Staff Sergeant Adams felt one pass through his shirt sleeve

Da shoot at him he's telling everyone what to do, no shoot at that one, we missed, let's move to the next position

Jesse ducks behind cover and grabs up the M79. If spying the muzzel flash or what ever, will attempt to put an HE on target. And continue for two more rounds as necessary.
"Sniper!! Get some suppressive on him! Anyone see where he's at?"

Gomez will look for targets. If groups are spotted he gives them single
rounds from the Mk-19. If no groups, he ducks, grab his M-60, an ammo belt
and makes it ready to fire

Sergeant Langora will dive for cover and look for the muzzles fire from the prone position. if he can see them he will manuver through cover and concealment to find a position where he can have a shot. double tap M4A1 shots.also if he see them he will try to identify them as friend or foe. If foe he will also alert the rest of our group of the enemies position,
direction and distance.and fire aim shots until the enemies are taken down or fire stops.
if friendlies he will yell to cease fire....he will then yell a 5th div. challenge and password. he will wait for the response before braking any cover. Hey they may be a recon team from the patton guys...since they are used to the good life they may have mistaken us with the enemy. If they do belong to the Patton group, once we have established a freindly
truth we will get together and ask if we can get their help.

{OOC} These were all good write ups but the turn instructions weren’t followed so nothing was spotted.

Captain do we make contact with the Tankers?
'Negative. unless they spot you and it seems evident there might be trouble, but only then. I'd prefer to make contact during daylight, like the morning."

."Gotcha no contact

The Grey Ghosts Motorised Horse Cavalry moved out. They got about 1.5 klicks down the road when both of the armed Hummers sputtered to a halt and were pushed off the road. The Horse Cav did a quick sweep and the two scouts confirmed the Tankers were bedded down for the night with a couple of low fires burning and no obvious security posted. Strangely the Farm house was lit up in several areas with what apppeared to be electric lights on the ground floor.

The group set up a perimeter and posted guards. The nurse on duty: 1st 4 Newman, 2nd Kelsog, 3rd Fawon reported every two hours on patient status to Captain Freestone, no change doing well. Connors was spot checking every two hours herself and checked Gunny Grey’s Head wound as well as Lieutenant Ski’s embarrising injury as well changing dressings and forwarding a report to Captain Freestone via the duty nurse. She also asked Gunny Grey if there was some heavier hardware for her nurses to be packing besides 45’s.

The night passed uneventfully with sentries reporting nothing out of the ordinary and spot checks by Capt Jesse, Lt Ski, and Gunny Grey found everyone alert and issuing challeges.
