The Paris Express, dated 24 Nov 1941, “A. R. Lowery, 20, & Jim Sanders, 22, both of New Blaine were killed instantly Sat. night when the truck in which they were riding went over an embankment on Highway 22 west of Dardanelle, turning over several times. They were enroute home on wet pavement from rain and failed to negotiate a curve when the truck skidded on the pavement. The bodies were thrown about 30 feet from the truck. Funeral service for Lowery held at Elizabeth Hall, New Blaine & burial at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ruck Horn, New Blaine. Brothers: Woodrow & John Shirley Lowery, New Blaine. Sister: Mrs. Ted Henderson, Okemah, OK. Aunt: Mrs. J. N. Birkhead, Paris”.
