Family History of Sevilla Adeline Moore Case
Sevilla Moore was born three miles south of Subiaco, now known as Harmony. As a child, Sevilla worked on the family farm and attended school to eighth grade. Sevilla met a young man named Frank Case, who lived over the ridge in Red Bench, in school and the two became sweethearts. Two months before her 14th birthday Sevilla and Frank eloped and were married by Frank's father, Reverend A. J. Case, a Landmark Baptist Minister. Sevilla and Frank's marriage was looked upon with disfavor by the Moore family.
In reference to Frank Case's character, his family and friends recall him as being a great christian, husband, father, friend and a benefactor to those in need. One characteristic everyone agreed on was of Frank Case being a big tease and Sevilla was often the brunt of his little jokes. One story is that Frank's pet name for his wife was "Missus Perkins", reason unknown except to Frank. Once Sevilla and Frank were walking along together and Frank stumbled and fell. Sevilla asked, "Did you fall, boy?" He laughingly answered, "Yeah, Ma, don't you see I'm down?" She asked, "Are you hurt?" Silence. Sevilla stated, "Well, get up boy!"
Another story is of Sevilla standing holding the freezer door open and Frank said, "What are you looking for Ma?" Sevilla answered, "I thought sure I had a chicken in here," Frank replied, "Ma, you probably did, but while you had the door open, it flew out!" Sevilla looked aghast and asked, "Pa, you reckon?!"-----"Oh, Pa, you know better than that." Many such stories were handed down through the family.
Frank Case's home base in his occupation was Red Bench, however, they moved many, many times; Subiaco, Scranton (3 times), Huckleberry Mountain and Dublin, Arkansas. Frank worked in timber, the sawmill, the railroad and even harvested cotton when in Texas. The Case family lived in Baytown, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
In 1953, Verdie Case followed in her mother's footsteps and married at age of 13. Verdie and her husband settled in Branch, Arkansas area.
The Case family moved back to Branch, AR and became members of the Branch Freewill Baptist Church. Frank Case was ordained a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent while Sevilla was a sunday school teacher and secretary of the church. Sevilla and Frank Case had regretted not getting into church earlier in their marriage, but they made more than double their chrisitan endeavors in their late life. "They became steadfast in their faith as the Rock of Gibralter".
Andrew Jackson Case's father's name also was: Andrew Jackson Case from Randolph Co., IL. Mother's name was: Sarah X.
