Welcome to my online photo album.

Carol Cleaning out the Fishpond

This is how I do most of my cleaning of the bottom of the fishpond, I tape a green fishnet to the end of a long rod so that I am able to reach the bottom of the pond.
I found this much better than trying to do it with a pondsweep. This does help to keep the water clearer.

And I do have a green frog in my front pond. He showed up 2 yrs ago and is still arround krocking to all the passersby.

My Back Pond

This back pond I did myself. It was very easy for me to do this one and a lot cheaper.

<

I got a couple of 8 inch boards and cut them to size. Dug out the centre of the pond in a V shape leaving a ledge around the edge for plants. I tapered the bottom of the pond so that it sloped from about two feet down to about 3 feet at the other end. Leaving a ledge on the bottom to drop the dishpan with lillies in the centre. This allowes the fish to go to the deep end for the winter.

I then got a piece of black liner to stretch over the sides and down through the centre overlaping the edges so they didnt fall in the water. I then filled it up with water and took out the wrinkles as it was filling up.

I had some old cement blocks that I put around the edge to hold the liner in place. I then covered them with planters and some smaller flat stones that I had left over from the front yard pond. I have a filter system out there that filters the water.

This pond I made to take some of the extra fish that were being produced in the front pond. I have found that it is easier to get them out of that pond when someone comes along to see if I have any extra fish for their pond.

I have put Water Irises around the outer edge as they don't have to be in as deep a water as some of the other flowers. I also have Umbrella Palms and Water Canna in that pond.

And Finally Me

These are pictures taken in the spring of 2002

My goose dressed up in his new fishing outfit

These are the Clematus growing over my white arbour in June of 2002. I think these are their 3rd summer. This summer they should grow over the top to meet the rose bush.

This is three diferent color of clematus from the same plant box. They said it was so that I would have continuse flowers growing but as you see they are all blooming at once, which makes it so beautiful.
