This page is deticated to my fovourite manga, Gunnm. Gunnm is a science fiction manga done indepently by Yukito Kishiro. It's a riviting book that has the perfect mixture of tremendous art, independant characters, action, drama, and a terrific plot.

They live in Scrap-Metal City. A crime-filled dump that lives off of the waste of Zalem, the high-tech paradise suspended above Scrap-Metal City. Periodicaly, Zalem dumps their garbage to the city below. It was in one of these garbage heaps that Ido, an ex-citizen of Zalem himself, had found Gally.

Gally, having amnesia, lived peacefully with Ido for a while. But she eventually got involved in the dangerous business of bounty-hunting, Ido's favourite pass-time. She discovered she acted instinctively, as if she belonged in the heat of battle. In time, she fell in love with a boy named Yugo, who was obsessed with reaching Zalem. Deciding to follow up on his dream, Yugo attempted to climb to Zalem, and died in his effort.

Crushed by the death of the one she loved, Gally disappears and takes up tournament fighting, becoming a renouned fighter. But with every victory, she earns one more enemy, and eventually even her friends turn their backs on her as her enemies hunt her down. Finally, she gets on the wrong side of the law, and is forced to become a "TUNED" agent of Zalem in order to escape execution. She is linked into their computers, and her every move is overseen by Zalem's top technicians. Overflowing with power and addicted to combat's empty fulfillment, it's not until she discovers a new lover named Fogia, that she again feels there is meaning to her life.

However, she is quickly forced back into the darker side of life, attempting to bring together the floating city of Zalem and the herendous streets of Earth. After not seeing him for nearly a decade, she discovers Ido is gone from her forever. Her tears are shed for the only man she truely loved. She also discovers that, for the last seven years, Zalem has been using her as a prototype for a line of replica androids. Infuriated, Gally tries to destroy them. She is still caught between Zalem and Scrap-Metal City.

It's up to Gally, with Nova's help, to save both Scrap-Metal City, and Zalem. And so Gally brings about a final end to the floating city in an astonishing transformation. Once again, the people of Scrap-Metal City and Zalem are reunited.
