Moscow met us with a sunny freezing winter morning and our parents impatiently waiting for us. Julia's father's old LADA -06 took us to his flat in Moscow's suburb Lianozovo and we plunged into busy Moscow's life.
As most of the moscovites live in the similar high rise blokes of apartments, in a small flats, it took me a while to get used to this lifestyle again. But all the flats have a central heating and despite of the freezing temperature outside (-20C) it was warm enough inside.
The first few days we stayed at home going to bed when it was still dark and getting up when it was already dark. Lots of vodka was consumed and many warm feelings expressed while meeting our parents and friends.
I felt that there is never enough time for them and it was very difficult.
Moscow hasn't changed much since we left it and I felt there at home. We could notice some real improvements such as new freeway around the city, new supermarkets in 'sleeping' suburbs, more luxury cars on the streets and new cafes in the city center.
Trade is also florishing. We bought so many cheap CDs: Classic music,Russian 'bards', different software.
Some people earning USD$1000per month and more, although I reckon that the wages in such a great city like Moscow should be doubled.
Unfortunately many existed problems are still remain there. City is a bit overpopulated - public transport is overcrowded and traffic is increasingly heavy and the air/water pollution is quite strong. The noise level on the streets is so high that you have to nearly scream while talking to somebody.
Yet I didn't want to say goodbye when the time had come. We are going to be far away again for another year, but thats a price we have to pay for our advantures.
But we promised to see each other soon, doesn't matter on which continent.
